10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. 9 - You feel insulted and 'dehumanized' when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the 'atrocities' attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in 'Exodus' and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in 'Joshua' including women, children, and trees! 6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most 'tolerant' and 'loving.' 3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in 'tongues' may be all the evidence you need to 'prove' Christianity. 2 - You define 0.01% as a 'high success rate' when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. 1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

You must have a very liberal definition of Fundamentalist. Aside from some excess in the language (e.g., Fundamentalists' faces may not literally turn purple on hearing about atrocities), I can't imagine anyone I would call a Fundamentalist Christian who would not in substance endorse the majority of the sentiments on the list. Let's reword them a little.

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel that someone who denies the existence of yours is not sincerely seeking the truth. 9 - You feel humanity's special place in God's creation is denied when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You disagree with polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - You morally condemn 'atrocities' committed in the name of Allah, but you accept as just because God is Just that God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in 'Exodus' and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in 'Joshua' including women, children, and trees! 6 - You reject Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You give credence to those looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and claiming that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider that God is Love. 3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some person rolling around on the floor speaking in 'tongues' may be all the evidence you need to 'prove' Christianity. 2 - You seize on good outcomes following prayer. It is not hilarious but it is funny. Fundamentalists of all religions are fools and they are funny and sometimes scary. It is no different if you are a crazy Muslim killing people so you can be with 40 virgins or if you are a crazy Christian convinced everyone else is going to spend eternity in hell for not being exactly like you. I didn't write the list, I just got it in an email.

Rational thought of course also depends on a priori postulates, the usefulness of rationality being one of the more common and less controversial. What is needed is thought based on a conciously acknowledged set of genuinely fundamental beliefs that are consistent with reality and time invariant. Thank God he has provided everything necessary for just such a system of beliefs.

See, you're quite capable of being fully rational ... for to *understand* the requirements of rationality is the proof that one is capable of it. Thus, since you are so frequently irrational, it *must be* that you choose to be irrational.

Once upon a time (when I was young and green behind the ears) I was a lay preacher in the Methodist Church, so you can't say it's for lack of looking. But I have yet to see evidence that God, omnipotent, omniscient, and everlasting would really care about whether I ate fish on Friday, or made love to a woman outside of marriage, or didn't give ten percent of my gross income to the local priests, or - most importantly - that any other man on earth has been empowered to tell me what God wants me to do. Indeed, I have this sneaking suspicion that whether it's a backwoods fundie like Illion or the Pope in his golden throne, when they start telling me that God shared the secret of what to do and what not to do with them, it's all about them, not about God.

Well, having redefined fundamentalist christian as someone who embraces the list, you must be very happy. However, you need a quick refresher course in General Semantics.
