There are many people who think that the life in the country is much better and easier than the life in the town because it pure, clean good water and air can be found only in the country,in the town is nothing except noise, smoke and illness but on the other hand some people thinks that the life in the country is quite dull and uninteresting. But I think that the life in the country is very happy only for a short time. Now whats your choice?
I live on the edge of a village that is now classed as a town. 5 mins walk to the shops and pubs and other amenities. 5 mins drive to sports club 5 mins cycling to get into the countryside 15 mins drive to nearest city and park the car. 35 mins drive to work. Nice.
I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

I like small towns, like the one I live in (~150k inhabitants), but I hate big ones. As for countryside, it's very different across the world. It kinda sucks in less developed countries, but it's nice in the modern ones.

I guess I never liked it. But that is partly growing up in the valley in albq. There was a drug dealer in elementary school and everyone knew who he was. I was beat up more times than I could count, and stabbed twice before finishing 6th grade, though one was a minor flesh wound. Everyone's choices are victim to their own experiences, I am no different. My view of the city is colored by my experiences in the bad side of the bigger city. I was quite happy to move away. Though small city life has its problems too, especially bigotry and bias in many ways. :) One reason I would prefer to get as far away from other humans as possible, the farther the better. :)

Living in the UK in Cambridge the countryside nearby is not really the countryside as it is vastly overfarmed. I live in a nice quiet part of Cambridge away from the Hoi polloi  so in that sense I am very happy. From what I gather the countryside in Iran is very different to the UK and from what I have seen it is very beautiful as well - so my choice, if I lived in in Iran, would probably be the countryside.

Whoa! :wtf: :omg: From personal experience, I know that in some places in the states its worse off than the Gaza strip but this is verging on ridiculous!

I loved living in the suburbs of Edmonton, Alberta. Small city and far enough to have peace and quiet yet still close enough to have proper city services.

There. Fixed that for you :). Though truth be told, its sucks because of the lack of amenities. If you wanted to rough it up, that's the place to be.

Small town, I can walk for 15 mins to the shops or 5mins to the country or drive 10 mins to the coast. :)
Town life is the middle way. I live in Cambridge, UK and its lovely. Its 10 mins on my bike to town and the same to work. My ride to work takes me across a couple of commons. If I want to go to the countryside that's 5 mins cycling away. I know people will say Cambridge is actually a city but its the size of a town. Its no bigger than where I was born in Macclesfield! Tried living in London and hated it. It took ages to get anywhere however you travelled.

I'm in Manchester, UK and I think I'd hate to be anywhere smaller. I'd rather live closer to town though but the buses (I don't drive) from the center to where I work are useless (would take about an hour to go 8 miles) and there don't tend to be that many development jobs in the more central areas.

Albuquerque, like any other town, has a good side and a bad side. Stay away from the poor side of town, lower valley. The heights, shopping, old-town, etc are just like any other city, probably no worse than visiting Chicago or NY and possible a lot better. Poverty has a habit of bring out the worst in people.

You seem to have had a more eventful life before 6th grade than I've had in my entire life. :omg:
and did I mention school was safer than home? There is good reason I finally got my head together left home and avoid the place. :)

oh I can't imagine that it is worse than gaza. Sure there was a kid who burned $20 dollar bills to show us how powerful he was, he sold drugs, and it was some much bigger kids (high school or college, hey was in 6th grade lots of people were bigger) that came looking for him that stabbed me. Perhaps if I had not chosen to be a crossing guard I would not have been stabbed. I was there late to stay away as long as possible from going home, there are advantages and disadvantages to such a venture, at the time, the incentives to stay at school were greater -- that was just a bad day at elementary school.

I grew up in the country. It has advantages and disadvantages. Good: quieter, cleaner air, cooler, well water (at the time city water was gross), bigger cheaper lots with lower taxes, trees to play in. Bad: far from stores, friends, movies, work, police, fire dept. As I grew older and had transportation, the bad points got fewer. By then, the population had grown around us, so traffic, noise grew too.

I have preferred "country" living all of my life. I don't know if one is really better than the other, but I have just never enjoy city living.
