...isn't going to get me a root. 10 years (18:53 Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time, which is about 3 hours ago) since my little sister died of Melanoma. We were at the grave at the time she died and my kids washed down her headstone. On the way back we stopped off and had a feed of chips and scallops plus some calamari and battered savs thrown in. Don't know if it's the fact I was the white blood cell donor or just that I'm the big brother, but I feel really fucking shit right now. My kids are really fucking amazing, they really are, so is the Missus. Didn't stop me trying to get a root though, seesm the sympathy path didn't work, got told to fuck off. P.S. Had the day off from work today, started drinking at 16:00 (about 6 hours ago) better stop soon, gotta get up and take the kids to school and then get to work in the morning.

I think maybe the anniversary isnt the best time to try and get a 'root'. Might be a good time to stop drinking as well. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Are you sure your wife just didn't think it appropriate for this particular anniversary?

I would definitely not let my kid sister read this post.

Yes, Steve, exactly what I said. Well done. Michael is suffering, she is more removed from the suffering (pretty sure she isn't up drinking and cussing with him. Maybe at him but not with him) and a bit of sympathy wouldn't go amiss. And a lot of people find comfort in sex during hard times, nothing much wrong with it.

I do recognise that Michael posted while drunk and at a time of emotional distress, but suppose his wife finds the thought of sex at times of emotional distress distasteful - should she just abandon her own feelings? There's nothing wrong with sex as a comforter at hard times, but it's not the only solution, and if one partner wants it and the other doesn't then it's going to cause stress.
