I would love to meet the people that come up with the material for these training courses, and spend 2 hours with them to show them what real harassment is all about. :) One of my favorites - someone starts telling a joke, and from the opener you can tell that it could be racy. Does the overly-sensitive employee leave the group knowing their limitations and that they might get offended? Nope, that would be FAR too easy. Instead, they do the logical thing, of course -- they hang around, listen to the entire joke, laugh with everyone else, and then run to HR to complain about it. Hey! Here is a simple concept - how about sneaker-netting yourself out of the room next time and save everyone else the trouble? :) Heh... I love this Politically Correct, everyone's-feelings-matter-except-the-one-telling-the-joke stuff. I really do. Ahhh... I feel better now... Anyone else feel the same about all this PC stuff? Or is it just me? Peace!-=- James

I tend to destroy the accent (of course in a non derogatory manner), the grammatical laws (also not in a derogatory manner) and the language itself (not in a derogatory manner) translating jokes directly from a mixture of Catalan and Spanish (for that one I can't defend myself... I do that in a derogatory manner) and by now I've got lots of feedback telling me that it is almost impossible to understand a thing, but never I've found hostile behaviour on someone here... (also no :bob:pian has gone to speak with my HR department)... Now being serious: "people is becoming mad... I suppose that it is fruit of too much spare time or something similar...". :rose:

I mean we have a very good feeling, and usually we say to each other that if some day Hitler would raise his head from the tomb he would become stunned by the horrible things we say here and that he would like to go back to the coffin... :-D It is fun to say stupidities some times... the only thing is that people like to take things out of scope for whatever reason... - I know the case of a man that was the manager of one department in a big company... the department personnel was entirely full of women and he always said that if some day he had to fire one of them he would fire the one that had less "pectoral muscles" (*)... the day arrived in which he had to fire a girl on the department... he was sued and he had to leave the job. Of course he was joking, but... - Some time ago I read that Schneider Electric was sued for asking for people between 20 and 30 years old to get a job in their offices in Barcelona... you could think that this is not strange, but they got sued for discrimination... People is becoming mad... (*) in order not to offend to anyone.

I believe the jump to apples and oranges just took place. While not taking a side on the whole smoking argument, because people were never really "allergic" to cigarette smoke until only about 10-15 years ago, there is a medically validated health concern that the smoke can affect other otherwise normal people. There is no normal person that is going to get cancer from a joke involving a priest, rabbi, chicken and an extra large tube of KY jelly. Peace!

I'm the same, although I was brought up around varying accents. Both parents from Sheffield, so when I'm up north, it switch fast and naturally, however I was raised in the south and that's where I live now and that's how most people hear me. They think I'm pretty weird when as soon as I hit the Yorkshire borders it's all e-by-gum :laugh:
