Saw this after a quick visit to cnn.com... Man Cleaning With Blowtorch Starts Fire[^] :wtf: Ummm, what ever happened to just using a broom or a pressure sprayer?

Yes, they do :laugh: I'll stick with the electric heat gun I borrowed from my mom. It gets the old paint removed without the excessive power of a blowtorch :)

Not sure, but it couldn't be really any different than the people who flick their burning cigarette butts out of their cars into the dry brush. Couple that up with 50-90mph Santa Ana winds that blow at this time of year, we could be in trouble. Cal-Fire is supposedly going to let the Australians borrow the DC-10 Supertanker for their fire season coming up. Here is a clip[^] of it making a drop in the Zaca fire.

Exactly. My wife said she was not worried about it since our fire season is pretty much over. Well, not worried about it until I reminded her of the fire incident we had in January '06. Luckily the wind blew it straight into an area that was hit two years before, and a storm rolled in three days after it started. The lady that works with my wife, her husband is a mechanic for the plane and said something about the Aussies being charged $50K per day using the plane. Supposedly Arnold Schwarzenegger has been trying to get a 747 retrofitted for fire fighting. Hell with that, how about a C-130 or C-5 the Air Force would be willing to donate :rolleyes:
