Saw this after a quick visit to cnn.com... Man Cleaning With Blowtorch Starts Fire[^] :wtf: Ummm, what ever happened to just using a broom or a pressure sprayer?

Hell of an interrogation device, as well.

Your silly assed, irrelevant opinion has been duly noted. Now take it elsewhere!

Yes, they do  I'll stick with the electric heat gun I borrowed from my mom. It gets the old paint removed without the excessive power of a blowtorch :)

 I doubt the US Forest Service would allow me to use a blowtorch to get rid of the old paint. The fire danger sign at the ranger station around the corner from here is still "High"... :sigh:

Spiders lodge in the broom and plot revenge from behind the kitchen door. OK, that's where my broom is, and I don't want a pissed off rain spider[^] in my broom.

Nope. Glad I don't have any of those. These large, attractive spiders Okaaaaaay.

That is why we have two brooms. One for outside and the other for inside.

Big spiders are no problem, it's the small fast ones you have to watch out for.

Not sure, but it couldn't be really any different than the people who flick their burning cigarette butts out of their cars into the dry brush. Couple that up with 50-90mph Santa Ana winds that blow at this time of year, we could be in trouble. Cal-Fire is supposedly going to let the Australians borrow the DC-10 Supertanker for their fire season coming up. Here is a clip[^] of it making a drop in the Zaca fire.

That's really nice of them, but wtf will they do if there's a fire in your neighborhood? huff and puff and blow the thing out? Screw the Aussies.

Exactly. My wife said she was not worried about it since our fire season is pretty much over. Well, not worried about it until I reminded her of the fire incident we had in January '06. Luckily the wind blew it straight into an area that was hit two years before, and a storm rolled in three days after it started. The lady that works with my wife, her husband is a mechanic for the plane and said something about the Aussies being charged $50K per day using the plane. Supposedly Arnold Schwarzenegger has been trying to get a 747 retrofitted for fire fighting. Hell with that, how about a C-130 or C-5 the Air Force would be willing to donate

Great and what happens if they break it? Would they come up with the money to buy a new one (Do you really think a government Carson is happy with would provide new equipment for the US? They'd claim it was "used" and offer $0.10 on the $1.00) And even if they did, the delivery time would leave you unprotected for at least a year.

That is precisely why I wasn't too thrilled about hearing about the notion of the plane going down there.

Sure, size can matter, but also the quantity. Just ask Harry Potter and his friends about the ones they dealt with in Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets  Or, how about those red ants in the latest Indiana Jones?

That's really nice of them, but wtf will they do if there's a fire in your neighborhood? huff and puff and blow the thing out? Screw the Aussies.

Thanks, but I prefer girls. Josh, give me one good reason why the USA should rent Australia its only Big Gulp plane. Why can't Australia build its own? Indeed, why hasn't Australia already built its own?
