Not sure, but it couldn't be really any different than the people who flick their burning cigarette butts out of their cars into the dry brush. Couple that up with 50-90mph Santa Ana winds that blow at this time of year, we could be in trouble. Cal-Fire is supposedly going to let the Australians borrow the DC-10 Supertanker for their fire season coming up. Here is a clip[^] of it making a drop in the Zaca fire.

Exactly. My wife said she was not worried about it since our fire season is pretty much over. Well, not worried about it until I reminded her of the fire incident we had in January '06. Luckily the wind blew it straight into an area that was hit two years before, and a storm rolled in three days after it started. The lady that works with my wife, her husband is a mechanic for the plane and said something about the Aussies being charged $50K per day using the plane. Supposedly Arnold Schwarzenegger has been trying to get a 747 retrofitted for fire fighting. Hell with that, how about a C-130 or C-5 the Air Force would be willing to donate :rolleyes:

Why should we send our trained fire fighters to risk their lives fighting fires in the States? Why would you even need us to? If you had half a clue what you're talking about you'd know that we source all sorts of fire fighting equipment from many places around the world for our summer fire season as so many countries including the US. Personally I like Elvis, I'm pretty sure he's owned by the Canadians

Do you send them, or do they sign on for the pay during a period of time when they might be laid off? I am not being snarky, I am asking because I don't know. Generally speaking, I suppose you do it because we do it. Tit for Tat is often a good deal. However, I'm guessing that Oz has gotten so used to renting big water movers that it hasn't anticipated the possibility that California and Canada might say "no."
