    Because, there are ways to do this that are not difficult and still allow Amex users to charge. It's more likely that they don't want to pay the higher processing fee that Amex charges and don't want to admit that they are inconveniencing their customers for that reason.

      It's my bank, and they stop ALL Amex card, and no other cards, from working with ANY US site. As someone else said, that's too heavy handed. If they think Amex cards are not secure, why give me one ?

        So, I tried to book flights in the US on Expedia. My Amex was rejected. I called my bank. They said they didn't know. I called Expedia, and had to walk through the whole thing again, and it was rejected. Now my bank tells me that Amex card through Westpac will not work on US websites, they are all blocked due to fraud. I can use my Mastercard, which gives me 1/6 the reward points. It's all a hassle.

          I may be wrong, but you seem like a real "glass half empty" kinda guy. I don't think I've read a single positive post from you in week! Maybe you should fire up your Windows-in-a VM-in-a-Mac thing and watch a movie or something. I suggest Wall-E. And maybe take a flight somewhere nice to relax for a few days.

            I used to work retail and did the financials for my store for about a year. I don't recall AmEx's processing fees being any higher than MC, Discover or Visa. As far as fraudulent cards go, we would get at least one chargeback a month because of fraudulent cards. We didn't just accept cards willy-nilly, we used a verification service. It would stop some but not all bad cards. Often the chargebacks would come two months or more after the charge took place. Expedia has probably had problems with people using the fake cards to book last-minute flights, using the flight, then a couple of months later Expedia has to write-off the chargeback. I don't blame them one bit for denying these cards.

              I've had nothing but hassles all week. I could watch something, but I have too much work to do.... Oh, and I bought Wall-E, that's how I found out that Blu Ray has region encoding. So, I paid for it, and cannot watch it. See what I mean ?

                Amex does cost more, over here you often have to pay a 3.5 % surcharge for Amex, but none for Visa or Mastercard.

                    Well AMEX does cost more as I can confirm from several sources. Many mom and pop stores don't accept AMEX because of that reason.

                      If you had the same experience that I had last night while booking international tickets, then CP would have been flooded with Airlines suck posts:).

                          It's not that much more, though. I have a low volume merchant account. Amex cost .6 percentage points more than the others; 60 cents on a 100 dollar purchase. For a higher volume account, it's a smaller difference than that. Cheers, Drew.
