Yeah, right. If they put as much energy into making Linux a viable desktop OS instead of farting around with crap like that, Linux (and it's users) would be a lot better off. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

But doing this type of stuff is INTERESTING!!! Actually making a product usable is BORING. :( Tim Smith "Programmers are always surrounded by complexity; we can not avoid it... If our basic tool, the language in which we design and code our programs, is also complicated, the language itself becomes part of the problem rather that part of the solution." Porting Linux to a toaster would not be nearly as fun as a slick GUI that blasts Windows back to the stone-age. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

You can make it a desktop for the masses and still leave the fun it. What you need is a 2nd PC with nothing but Linux on it. Force yourself to use it once a day (try to find a way to do something on Linux that you can do on Windows). My biggest problem is finding games my wife will play. She's currently into the online games in the MSN zone, and that web site doesn't understand non-IE browsers. ------- signature starts "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001 Please review the Legal Disclaimer in my bio. ------- signature ends

I'm not suggesting every VB programmer is dumb, or every VB program is bad, but even people in this place ( i.e. where I work ) who code VB say they'd prefer not to hire VB programmers, because the odds are simply not good. Beyond that, I will just point out that the depth of my feeling regarding how bad VB is ( which comes from experience ), is something that you are drawing out of me with your successive comments, I did not set out to attack *anyone*, but like many other VB programmers, you seem determined to take any comment to the nth degree. I can only presume that this is because many VB programmers deep down yearn for a credibility that does not come from using toy languages. That is your problem, not mine. One where you said "yawn" or some such in a classic childish attempt at escaping a can of whoop ass you opened all by yourself. But coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment. ___________ Klaus [vbbox.com]

I love that attitude, Brian. If only other Linux geeks would follow suit. Please tell the other Linux geeks to stop their rhetoric about how great Linux is. I'm sick and tired of hearing it every day.
