Several dozen and the whole new generation as well, but it needs patience and it needs to be nurtured properly. Sadly, the world is without patience and tactics like the ones Dubya decided on using along with the ones Israel employs again and again is certainly hampering if not backpedaling the whole thing. I'd like to think that I'm one of the new generation that I'm talking about.

BTW, I can't find the original post regarding Egypt, I forgot to answer that one because my parents showed up to see their Grandson. I have slammed them. I've written two articles to the local newspapers (I've previously had two such articles published, one for Progressive politics and a state of mind and the other with respect to what's stalling the Peace process) Sadly, it hasn't been published and I think the reason is that there is some sort of media blanketing occurring. One day, the Egyptians will overthrow the dictatorship they're in.

Problem was that while it was boring over here, the world was pouring money into the hands of a bunch of nomads whose idea of civilization was to remember to wipe their ass with the fingers of one hand and eat with the fingers of the other. And honorable warfare meant not to fuck the other guy's wives after you killed them. Unfortunately these guys became so rich that they threw out the relatively civilized rulers of the Arab world and set themselves up in their place.

I'm not talking about this particular current conflict, but Jihadis in general. Of which, Iran is the radical Jihadi run government that is closest to aquiring nukes. And I'm thinking the second they get one they'll aim it as Israel.

I don't really need to. Israel has been home to the Jews for, and no joke and no offense, before the Arab culture emerged. Check your history books "dude", Israel has fought how many wars against the Arab nations surround it's territory? How many times was it a draw? 0? How many times did Israel get attacked with no warning, and instead of losing, ended up conquering territory? Yeah that's right, Hamas will be no different. Israel clearly attempted to give Hamas a shot with the ceasefire that ended on the 27th. Hamas, never at one point honored their word and simply rearmed and continued to launch rockets. This is a direct result of their actions and now the supporting populous which is the Palestinian people must sit in their bed, for they have made it.

You really are mixing up ethnicity with creed. People, whose descendants are now the Palestinians have been living there since before Judaism existed and if you think otherwise, you are sadly lost in your own world. Get your facts straight and come back. There are Palestinian Jews, Christians and Muslims and they all refer to themselves as Palestinians. Creed has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Jon, I'll happily cross [s]words with you again. You're an honorable, knowledgeable man that's not afraid of pointing out his points and I have an immense amount of respect for you. I didn't want to respond to a single thread to be honest, but Elliot had to start with the name calling game which I consider to be extremely childish and ineffective but he's heeded what was said which is good. Just because its a near free for all it doesn't mean we sink to the levels of Illiot.

Amen to that. There's even been a relative minimum of gratuitous down-voting. (Although as long as Illiot keeps coming back, I suppose there will be enough chances to vote one to make everyone happy. ) Wouldn't it be really nice if we could rant and rave about the world without indulging in childish insults and ideological food fights?

Did you phrase that correctly? Shouldn't it be "If you kill one of us we will kill 100 of yours" IIRC, the Romans enforced Pax Romana with a policy of killing ten for every one of theirs killed.

No, we need to bring back the Ottoman empire. Ottomans look great in the living room. But seriously, that area has only seen crap for 60 years. It's been continuously populated for thousands of years and only in the recent present has non-stop conflict been a problem. I blame it on the lack of Roman orgies.

Generally, I do lean towards the left but I'm not so far gone to walk in what you might consider the "dark side". I'm wholeheartedly a progressive and not a conservative. But I try my best to listen to both sides before I judge and I apply that mentality to the news.

Has that not piqued your interest, or do you believe everything the media throws your way? Does "balanced reporting ever cross your mind."

Blah blah blah blah. Its like you're trying to say I'm with Hamas. I'm not. I'm against the level of escalation Israel is using. Unlike what you and several others might believe, I hope for a peaceful solution and existence. Also, just FYI, I get as pissed off when Hamas or any other militant organization does what it does, its downright despicable, but what a coincidence, the IDF is doing the exact same thing.

It means that I know where they're coming from, but fine, I'll play along. My father-in-law is the President of the ICRC (International Committee of the Red Cross), he gets very graphic and very detailed reports. That's my best and most arbitrary source of information.

Haven't gone back in a few years. Two much bombing for a few years and I had school last year. It's been four years since I've visited, and I may not go back this summer. Time flies when you're stuck in traffic and working in a cube all day with no sunlight.

I'm not talking about this particular current conflict, but Jihadis in general. Of which, Iran is the radical Jihadi run government that is closest to aquiring nukes. And I'm thinking the second they get one they'll aim it as Israel.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I wasn't talking about this conflict either. Of course, it really doesn't matter where the stuff comes from. It only matters how many other rockets are fired off. In the discussion of the Israeli incursion, there have been various versions of "What would the U.S. do, if rockets were coming in over the Tex-Mex border?" I find myself wondering how long it will be before that is reality, too.

                                        • Speaking to reporters on the Israel-Gaza border, Unrwa spokesman Christopher Gunness said three of the agency's employees were hurt in the attack. He said the compound was hit by what Unrwa believed to be three white phosphorus shells, which are incendiary weapons used as a smoke screen.About 700 people were still sheltering in the compound, he said, and he was particularly concerned about the proximity of the fire to five full fuel tanks. Asked whether he was sure the attack had been carried out by Israel, he said he was not aware of Hamas having access to white phosphorus. Mr Gunness added that Unrwa would not be able to distribute food or medical supplies on Thursday as its trucks were unable to leave the compound.

Thousands more huddled in homes that provided precarious shelter while explosions tore through rubble-strewn streets clouded by smoke. "It is a catastrophe," one woman said, walking quickly away from the area and carrying a child in her arms as two other children ran behind her to keep up. "We took our money and passports. We have to carry some identification with us in case we get killed," she said. "Hamas can claim victory if it wants but we just need this bloodshed to end."

How would Israel respond if another country tried to change its government by force? How would you respond if China (for example) tried to change the government of the US by force? If Israel was a peaceful and accommodating neighbour I doubt that rockets would be fired at them, nor that Hamas would have been elected. The whole of the Middle East needs to learn to live together in peace through peace, not to live together in peace through war.

What the fuck is wrong with people like you? Israel is a democratic society trying to survive surrounded by the most evil assholes since Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin died. Get your head out of your lefty liberal ass and get back on the side of freedom, liberty and justice.
