The interesting bit about the ad is that there's absolutely no mention of the speeds :-) Just saying "fast" or "fastest" or "fastest fast (sic)" is all nice, but it'd be nice if they mentioned some actual mbps numbers.

You know you're in a room full of nerds, when you post a thread with a humorous video about High-Speed internet using a Rabbit-Panther-Jet-Enabled-Hairless-thingie being driven by an overly-caffeinated-jet-pilot-with-a-led-foot and everyone's discussing what their actual download speeds are ... I feel like I've just told a joke to Mr. Spock, and he's standing there, staring at me, eyebrow raised, saying "It's not logical Douglas, they didn't mention actual speeds.". ;p

Ok that was funny, but CrapCast still sucks  They will only stop sucking when (if!) they fix their P2P policy and their inconsistent lying about it.

Now I did think the video was funny, quite funny at that.. However my involvement in the discussion about speeds is because I do not believe a darn word that they say. There is no other company that I have business with that I trust less. And most of this is distrust is generated by the constant barrage of false adverts / borderline lies that I see every single day as a customer. Eventually, when I call them to disconnect my service this will be one of the reasons I mention. The other will be the rate hikes and service changes (moving popular channels to different packages forcing upgrades).

Oh, my guess is, they'll eventually fix their speed problems, only, you'll then get a 2GB cap/month once they get there...

I've been getting a bunch of flyers from some ISP (I forget which); the flyers and the Website give the speeds but not the technology. I assume it's neither cable nor fiber, so I'm not interested, but I'd like to know.

I've discussed this with many people here in my office as well. My rates just went up, and the wife and I decided to downgrade to their lowest basic package, because we're sick of their B.S. FYI - I was also guilty of speed discussions, I just find it funny that none of us can seem to escape our nerdism.

Well a lot of Indians would mis-spell that too I'd think. Sadly for me, a lot of Indians mis-spell my name as "Nishanth" :-( Luckily no westerner has done that to me yet.

Google has 5 times the search results for "Nishant" as it has for "Nishanth" - so I doubt if that is so. Even assuming that they misspelled my name originally, people who reply to my posts should know to use the right spelling.

Do you know how slow my internet connection is compared to the rest of the globe? Its faster than 1% of other connections worldwide, and I have a decent connection to the internet. Sad.
