executes tasks to perform an upgrade? that's your full spec??? what are ya some kinda SPECS guy? (I assume this based on the input of spec guys in my past and your, umm, statement...) Tryin to move beyond the problematic "SETUP" phrase, eh? UpgradeYa? Ameliorator? Rectifier? Amend? The thesaurus is your friend here...

Not in the least, on both counts! My full spec describes the tasks, the work flow, and the UI, and I must code it and name it.

Well, i meant the specs you're givin' us for the name. And I was just jokin' round. I'd never call somebody a "specs guy" literally. That's just too severe.

Yes folks, it's that time again. I'm looking for a nice suffix for an application that executes tasks in order to perform an upgrade, and ultimately, all similar applications (that execute tasks). -Manager has seen its day, -Wizard isn't accurate, and -Worker just doesn't sound right. Yes, this is ultimately a programming question, but I am appealing to Lounge denizens' command of the English language, and not of programming languages, so I thought I could squeeze it past the censors. :)

A friend of mine (then a project manager for a large telecoms company) nearly got an official project started under the name of "Computerised Line Integrated Test Or Repair Interface System". His boss was just about to sign off on the order for project ties when he noticed the acronymn that was to be emblazoned across them...

Oh yes. This was a man who (after one of his girlfriends gave him a love bite one afternoon) sandpapered his own neck on the train home to hide it from his wife... He had four, BTW - I could never keep the names straight.

In our CAD package we have "assemblies" that some times need to be "exploded", leading to various variables along the lines of 'AssExplode' etc. :-D
