you've read a lot into a few sentences, where did you see a mention of a central government? she's from California, which has dealt with it locally, why wouldn't you assume that she's in Washington to kick off a 49 state effort?

Why else would she be at the hub of our federal government? That is where people go to lobby the federal government and try to tell others what and how to think.

by throwing a pissy fit and literally threatening the lives of people that opposed same sex marriage. the "battle" began as a public referendum and it outlawed same sex marriage. the gay and lesbian community along with their backers took the issue of the referendum to the state supreme court that ruled it unconstituitional. the opponents of same sex marriage then sponsored an amendment to the state constituition, and it passed. now the gay and lesbian community are trying to get that same state supreme court to say that an amendment to the state constituition is unconstituitional. so the blathering you see earlier in the thread about local decisions is precisely that, blathering.

You mean the federal government becoming more and more involved with the daily lives of it's citizens? Or, do you mean the republican and democratic party abandoning all sense of the rule of law? Or, do you mean bills being passed in congress and signed by the president that are the equivalent of a Rube Goldberg machine in writing? Or, do you mean the complete loss of level headiness by the electorate as the country seems like it is on a course to continually swing from one extreme of leadership to the other and people outsource their thinking to talking heads on radio and TV? Or, is it the complete lack of long term thinking in this country that you are referring to? Because there has been a lot of bs happening during my lifetime and I really want nothing to do with it.

HAHA... Texas and their football mythology. The entire state is still feeling insecure that if you count all of the national championships from all of the football teams they still don't come close to po dunk Oklahoma and Nebraska.

Slavery was ended by amending the constitution, which is entirely appropriate. But you are correct to point out that I omitted miscegenation.
