There seems to be some question what a Geordie sounds like.

You like dags?

She was rather attractive. Much more toothsome than Lysette Anthony; this makes sense if you remember Series 1 of Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

So, I was reading threads from earlier today, and somebody asked Dalek Dave if Brad Pitt's character in Snatch had a Geordie accent (he was actually playing an Irishman), so I thought I'd make it easy for you - here's some genuine Geordie for you to enjoy. The Blaydon Races[^] - the Geordie National Anthem. Dance to your Daddy[^] - for the fishermen who died. Ant and Dec[^] - the clean face of Geordie. OZ[^] - the true face of Geordie. There - you now know the sound of Geordie.

Isn't it basically Brian Johnson ? He was in a band called Geordie, so he is one, right ?

Oh, man, I am so lost. What the heck does Brad Pitt got to do with Star Trek: The Next Generation?
Codemonkeys don't do it at all. Too busy coding.
Geordie was the name of the blind guy, but it's also the name for someone from a specific region in the UK. I don't even know exactly where.

A couple of guys from our Newcastle office spent about an hour trying to explain to a few of us ignorant southerners what the differences in accent between Geordies, Maccams and Pit yakkas were. Needless to say we found it hard to tell them apart in most cases. I seem to remember "Whose keys are these keys" being one of the sentences that were meant to differentiate between the 3 but for the life of me I don't recall how it was pronounced in different places.

No offence, but to me he'll never be anything but a substitute. 19 February 1980 was a sad day. :sigh:

When I first moved down south I was shocked to discover that most people couldn't even tell the difference between my Teesside accent and a Geordie accent. Got sick of telling people I wasn't a geordie. I remember one stuck up cow from Oxford saying to me in a haughty way 'you don't really think there's a difference do you?' I was defended by a cockney who knew someone from Gateshead and assured her there was a considerable difference. She wasn't convinced, like...
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.

Chesley street - see I speak geordie! Didn't know about Dec's Bro. Ee's reet clarty.
