The sight of Jeremy Clarkson (class 1 petrolhead and motormouth) shovelling coal all the way from London to Edinburgh has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. By the end he we rooting for the train to win, which was almost as funny as seeing him exhausted and covered in coal dust... This picture says it all...[^] Tornado's an amazing piece of engineering though. I'm almost not surprised he was dribbling over it. And no, I don't believe [spoiler deleted] is the Stig either!

I think the Stig is quite a bit taller than Schumacher. It is probably an ex-BTCC racer.

I think the identity of the current Stig was discovered by the Telegraph, I believe a couple of months ago. Well they had a pretty detailed article on the guy (can't remember the name) and it was pretty plausible. I'm of the opinion it being Schumacher was a stunt to distract from this :)

Very likely. As others have said elseware, he almost certainly came alone to showcase that Ferrari (and blew the lap times board in the process!).

I reckon MS was the only person that Ferrari would allow to drive the FXX on the TG track and the Stig was on holiday so doing it that way ensured he [the stig] still made an appearance on the show. Think it will be a while before that time is beat.

I have had Eggs and Bacon cooked that way. Done properly, they are still pretty awful. :) My maternal grandfather and one of my uncles were steam train drivers. Grandfather used occasionaly to drive Sir Nigel Gresley and Mallard, although he was generally a goods train driver. Because of this, when I was about 7 or 8 I 'drove' Mallard into Kings Cross.

LOL I bet! My family were all miners until my Dad came alone and became an accountant. He made me swear not to follow in his footsteps, so I went into Engineering instead. :) I did once end up in the cab of a 26 on the way out of Carlisle though.

Excellent TG episode. The new series is in with a bang, and I'm looking forward to seeing the drag race between the Maclaren F1 and the Veyron. I wonder if they are going to do a different Stig every week to do the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car slot?

Excellent TG episode. The new series is in with a bang, and I'm looking forward to seeing the drag race between the Maclaren F1 and the Veyron. I wonder if they are going to do a different Stig every week to do the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car slot?

Very likely. As others have said elseware, he almost certainly came alone to showcase that Ferrari (and blew the lap times board in the process!).

Indeed! In fact Ferrari only allowed the track test if MS was at the wheel. Stiggifying him was just a stunt.

It certainly was. I wonder what they're going to make of Koenigseggeggeggegg* taking over Saab, though? * Spelling it isn't a problem; knowing when to stop spelling it is. ;)
