While this shouldn't, strictly, be in the Lounge, I'm prepared to ignore the rules for this issue. It's powerful stuff, and something we'd all do well to remember.

You kept posting what you think is right and lo and behold you got a 5 vote at last. :) I had to scratch my eyes several times to confirm what I was seeing was really true.

And both sides are it. Nobody fights for what they believe is wrong.

I think you are confused. Think of a slave revolt. The captured slaves want to be free, but their master wont let them. You know which side is in the right, doesn't really matter what they think on either side, because there is only one right side.

If the masters believed themselves to be wrong they wouldn't be doing it would they?

They would, because they benefit from it. Goldman Saches doesn't take hundreds of billions of taxpayers dollars because they believe its the right thing to do, they do it because its easy money. A dictator doesn't cull protesters of tyranny because he believes its morally right, he does it to keep or strengthen his power. A psychopath doesn't chain down his victims because he thinks its the right thing to do, he does it because it gets him off.

They believe it's right for them; that's what I mean.

Well, what I mean is that there is this thing called universal morality. Things that are known to be undebatable and undeniably right or wrong.

No, there really isn't.

I don't know how that mindset came about, but people who possess that mindset are fundamentally flawed and easily corrupted.

No different than anyone else. In fact it's that kind of thinking that leads to the type of situations you're complaining about.
