Splendid! A means of allowing the citizens to get to know the local police dogs. That way when you happen to innocently stray near a G7 protest and the pup latches onto your genitals, you'll be able to address him by name.
You don't "happen innocently stray near". At the very best you are actively participating in a DOS attack against measures to preserve public safety and security, clogging input and analysis channels. :suss:
Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

 I guess the guy that was killed in London, trying to get home from work, was an active participant in a DOS attack?
If you think about it, most of our security measures can be easily disabled - or used to create havoc - when applying the concept of Denial of Service attacks. The London accident was - in a way - a logical conclusion of overhyped and underdelivering FoF tests. Dark skinned and in a heavy coat my ass. I can't blame the officers, only the policies that led to it.

Ummm... it wasn't an 'accident' - I believe criminal charges resulted.

Lost me on this one.

See the above reference to criminal charges - if I'm right about that, it would seem that the government has no qualms about blaming the officers involved. Although I suppose that shouldn't come as a surprise. ;P

Are we talking of different incidents[^]?

That was the initial "explanation". Even if it was true it's barely anything at all.

| FoldWithUs! | sighist | µLaunch - program launcher for server core and hyper-v serverYup, sure are. :-D Can't remember the guy's name, but an individual who worked in London - I think he ran a newsstand, or something - was beaten to death by a group of police when he got too near a demonstration a few months back. One of the Brits may be able to fill in the details a bit better. He was apparently trying to go home after work - had nothing to do with the demonstration, and wasn't really anywhere near any center of violent action.

Ian Tomlinson - he wasn't beaten to death but he was pushed to the ground by riot police while he was walking home. He later dropped and died of a heart attack.
Was it a heart attack or was it due to internal bleeding? I seem to recall there being debate about the cause of death. [edit] Ian Tomlinson, 47, was struck and pushed over by a police officer during G20 protests on 1 April in the City. Now a fresh post-mortem examination has found he died of abdominal bleeding, not a heart attack, as first thought. Lawyers for the family said the new post-mortem test raised the likelihood of a manslaughter charge. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8004222.stm[^] [/edit]
