I'd be monitoring the account closely for a few months, hoping to get further payments. Meanwhile I wouldn't spend a penny over my normal salary. If a few months of pay like that arrived, then I'd be long gone. If not, or if discovered, plausible deniability. ;P Sadly, I think I would done the same as the man in the article. :^) //L

Probably; not least because I seem to recall someone being prosecuted (in the UK) for keeping a similar payment, afer it was shown in court that they knew it was not legally theirs.

I know I would hold it for at least a couple of days to get some interest from it in a savings-account... And meanwhile just wait to see if my employer notices and only then take action... unless they wait too long... then I might become jumpy and contact them myself...

Nah... What's up, Doc? CCC's solved : 1 If a bus station is where a bus stops, and a train station is where a train stops, why do I have a work station on my desk?

Absolutely. The employer is definitely going to find their error sooner or later. Always better to take the high road.

Likely, yes. Not much of a dilemma anyway.

This happened to my partner with the NHS, they paid her for a month extra after she changed hospitals (she's a pharmacist who moved hospitals). Took them ages to sort it out, she told them pretty swiftly what had happened but they won't seem to take the money. Think i'd do the same, you'd only get raped if you didn't. Make a bit of interest off it maybe but thats the cheekiest i'd do.

Would I what? Let me employer know and give the money back? Absolutely. I don't see any room for a dilemma here. It's not your money. Plain and simple.

Damn that £250 a day cashpoint limit ;-) Otherwise it would be me and a holdall doing a tour of cashpoints enjoying the jackpot, I'd be on my way out of the shithole formerly known as Great Britain faster than you could say knife (which is probably what I'd get in the ribs while standing around with that much money in a bag)

Why is it a moral dilemma? I'd not even hesitate or double think about it. In this case, it is very easy to discover the mistake, I have come across many that are very hard to find out the mistake, and returned them to their rightful owners. Long time back, I use to work at fast food restaurant. On one of my pay check, I was over paid by some hours I did not work. I alerted a lower manager and she told me to keep it quite. I informed her I can't and went to the payroll to inform them about the mistake.

                            Yusuf May I help you?

I know I would hold it for at least a couple of days to get some interest from it in a savings-account... And meanwhile just wait to see if my employer notices and only then take action... unless they wait too long... then I might become jumpy and contact them myself...

Nah... What's up, Doc? CCC's solved : 1 If a bus station is where a bus stops, and a train station is where a train stops, why do I have a work station on my desk?

Only if interest rates were reasonable.

You would get caught pretty quickly so unless you had a quick escape plan to a different country I would avoid that.
