I'm glad one of us got to run today. I've not run outside since before Christmas. I took the holidays off, and we've had bitterly cold conditions (and a snow storm) since. I'm getting all too familiar with the running routes on the treadmills in our fitness room :sigh:.

I think the last time I was out was in October so you're not doing too bad! Now we've done our usual route today I'm sure we'll get back into it in no time. :)

You are merely confirming your insanity! I did all the excercise I am ever going to do when I was in the army, and refuse to run/carry/lift etc ever again.

Beth's threatening to drag me out for a run in 15 minutes and it's a bit cold out there. :~ (not to mention the fact that I haven't run for a few weeks and I'm a bit reluctant to find out how out of condition I am). Once more into the (rather small, as this is Bournemouth after all) snowdrift, I guess.

It has snowed ever day this year with temps being below freezing for weeks. In recent times we have not had this but looks like we could have a 1970s winter in the works. With that said the in-laws have 3 to 5 feet of snow and they are only 2 hours drive to the north.

That is how I felt coming home last night. It took me 80 minutes to go 18 miles. Usually I do this in 25 to 35 minutes.

No running to the bar to get there before last orders? No carrying pints or spirits? No lifting arm to drink? Don't think so

I know for a fact you're still doing plenty of 12 oz. curls, based on some of your late Friday / early Saturday posts.

hedgehogs? you would have to import those, unless you ment the chocolate variety and they would melt over the grill causing a big mess.

Given the choice between insane and mundane, I know which one I'll choose every time. ;)

When the roads are this difficult I'm just glad I don't have to feel guilty for being late as a result of struggling through the jams. Although it can be a bit isolated at times, that's one big advantage of working from home in the winter.

I was debating working from home today as it is supposed to snow all day. The roads will probably be better than last evening though where it was a mix of snow and freezing rain at below freezing temperatures. The good thing about that was at 7:00PM there was not that much traffic on the route I took.

It's deceptively light here, but once you reach Hampshire or Wiltshire you start realising what everyone else is struggling through. I've missed two appointments in Farnborough (90 miles away) in the last fortnight due to road conditions. Having another go on Tuesday, so I'm expecting a snowfall sometime Monday evening...

Sound familiar, when it comes to weather I usually expect these types of things. Although to be honest I can not complain that much about the last decade, winters were no way as bad as they were in the 1970s when I was a kid. Back then I was not driving in it and it was fun getting off school...

It's a journey I normally only have to make every 3 weeks, fortunately. The last two dates we've set have however been the day after a big snowfall. Hence I'll be watching the forecasts carefully on Monday afternoon!

Oh yes. I distinctly remember building igloos and tunnels in the stuff one winter during the 1970s (though that was in Durham - which has an altogether different climate - rather than Dorset) in the back yard of a friend's place. Happy memories. :)
