I had a similar opinion until I drove a Hayabusa. Try driving a superbike once. You'll then know what that "whoosh" feels like. It feels like a dream, you'll wonder inside that helmet thinking if this kind of acceleration is even possible. During my first drive, I was at 160 KPH in seconds (and the damn thing was still accelerating until I realised I was driving fast). I'm saving money for one (will either be a busa, an R1 or an MT01). I'm almost positive that people at home won't allow me to buy one. But in that case I'll just buy a car. F1 races are amazing! May it be cars or bikes. :)

In Bangalore, you won't be able to get into second gear given the traffic we have. Nice road could be a place to drive those but that too is not that great. If you were in Delhi, NH8 or DND flyway would have been heaven during night. I have driven there and the feeling when you are easily cruising at quite high speeds cannot be expressed in words.

I've never liked the game. I hated playing it when I was younger and I hate watching it. It's not even a particularly fun or interesting game, so quite why footballers are paid quite so well to mooch up and down a field for 90 minutes is beyond me.

First race of the season, and blimey was that dull. I hope this isn't how the rest of the season is going to pan out.
I didn't find it any more dull than much of last year. Sakhir is not a great track, and made worse by the Suck-hyer new middle section. I'm happy to see refueling gone. Never cared for it. IMHO the mandatory tire changes are misguided. Things would liven up if teams could gamble on tire strategy a bit, maybe trying to make the entire distance on the option tire. It would put the focus on setup and driver skill again. Let's not even start on the 8 engine rule. :doh:

AFAIK, the speed limit on the M-P Expressway is 80 kmph. You were over or in at twice the limit, which by itself is a crime. But the biggest crime was you driving a superbike at insane speeds on roads that were not built to handle those speeds and traffic not accustomed to such driving. And I'm pretty sure you have no formal experience driving superbikes at high speeds. Do not advertise this ever again, and most importantly, do not do this ever again. If at all you want the adrenaline rush, head over to a race track and spin away to glory, they don't charge much. Your folks have a very good reason not to allow you to get a superbike. They dont want to see a dead or mutilated body.

Formula 1 races tend to be dull. I blame the harnessing of the ground effect and the use of automatic transmissions. It has become less about driver skill and more about technology.

It was always about the Technology. Alfa and Ferrari in the 50's, Lotus in the the late 70's. Now it's about who's got the money to buy the technology. Those guys with the red cars have always got the money. Still they were lucky today. And now Jenson knows what he's up against. Roll on round two, remember it's not a sport or a business, it's a soap opera.

Dude, take a chill pill. :) I remember the limit was something like 110 KPH! And then the government brought it down to 90, and then finally to 80. (I'm not particularly sure about what exactly it was initially, but it was above 100). And in my defense, that was my first experience (years ago) with a superbike. Me driving the bike at 160 KPH was not intentional. I had no idea it was going to accelerate that quick (my fellows did warn me though) and reach such velocity in just two gear shifts. And when I did accelerate, and then realised I could be really fast, I saw the speedo and was terrified (was at 160+ and it was happily going up!) Then I let go of the throttle and wait for the thing to stop roaring. In a second or two, I gathered the courage to apply the brakes (which was extremely good too). By then, my colleagues were way behind. When the bike came to rest, I stopped it, got off the road and sat down under a tree for a moment (was scared). After that experience, I learned to respect those machines and I drive them VERY carefully. In fact, no torqu_ing_ in the first two gears. For the rest of the journey, we were driving at about 80 to 100 KPH. I've an above average bike (FZ), which I strictly drive at around 40 to 50 KPH (tested the top speed a couple of times, which was 121 KPH). I'm not the average jerk who races on the roads. And our group gathers at the irungattukottai track once in a year. I don't race (don't have a superbike), but I love watching the races there. And one of my ex-colleagues participates in the races every time and he's won a few local championships!

Yeah, last year was mostly dull. But if today is anything to go by, this year looks as if it'll be as much fun as watching paint dry :(

Well actually transmission is not automatic, but robotized. They have to shift gears manually, they just don't have to use the clutch (unless they have to stop).

In the last 5-6 years F1 became more and more boring. I still watch most of the races but I'm dissapointed. I jost hope for rain at almost each race. Only then we'll see some overtaking or some spectacular out off track incidents. :(
