My girlfriend has been quite outspoken about "Air Brushing" images in glossy magazines. (Since I demonstrated to her how easy it is). Saying: It gives a false impression & goals for young girls. (She has a 16 year old daughter) But this is where it gets interesting: She went to a photo shoot with her daughter! :-D And when the prints came back in the post, what do you think happened??? You guessed it, a tummy tuck here, a boob job there... Am I alone in thinking that is Hypocritical? Funny, but still Hypocritical!   She is also going to kill me for posting this (If she finds out...)

It's not the retouching, it's the magazine -- even if there were no retouching, magazines (and such) would still give false goals.

:-D I went through exactly the same thing with my wife a couple years ago. Somehow, she didn't see it as hypocritical in any way, though. I just had to accept that I was "wrong".

There is only one rule: You're always wrong, especially when you're right.

Why photograph the girls at all if they are just going to be painted over anyway? Start with the painting and save all the aggravation. In all seriousness, magazines/photographers will not stop this trend until folks stop paying them. The only message they understand is the one that affects their bottom line.

When you look up "hypocrite" in the dictionary, the list of definitions starts with "1) Any woman; 2) Any democrat; 3) Anyone who programs in VB; ...".

There is no rule book because the rules always change. For example: Day 1: GF: complain, complain, complain Me: Uh, yeah, whatever GF: I was looking for some sympathy Day 2: GF: complain, complain, complain Me: Oh, I'm sorry you feel that way, I'm sure it'll be ok, yadda yadda yadda GF: You're just saying that because I told you I wanted sympathy yesterday, and now you're being condescending by not really meaning it. I have the shortened version, much easier to remember: 1. You're always wrong, even if you're right. 2. "Yes dear." is your standard phrase to every question asked. 3. "You look stunning in that dress / skirt / outfit." and "We'll do whatever you want. / Well go with whatever you choose." should be an automated response. Like Pavlov's dog, you should utter those words whenever you second half asks you anything about her appearance or where to eat. Three easy to follow guidelines for a happy relationship. ;p
