That's called cognitive dissonance. The original 'net was designed to be decentralized and resilent. Today, as a consumer product, not anymore. For a decentralized, resilent net, each T3 line would have to be 500 geographically separated 100k lines.

Just as he reaches the card reader, the terrrist boss emerges from the smoke, and is revealed to be PROT's former partner, who he thought had been killed in a terrrist attack on the company picnic, but who had survived, and blamed the Internet for the death of his son... Damn, this stuff just writes itself!
