I stopped worrying about that after a Slashdot commenter tricked me into clicking a tinyurl to Goatse. Since then, I figure no one could harm me any more than I already am, so why not click on through and enjoy the occasional surprise? ;)

LOL. This was ~10 years ago when URL shortening services were rather new. The post went something like this:
The problem is, Microsoft is wrong about pushing XYZ before it stabilizes. [Long, whiny Slashdot rant here]
I hovered over the link and saw "tinyurl". Without thinking twice, I clicked it...whammo, my horrified eyes beheld goatse. Innocence lost! :)
