When your kid grows up, he will be severely inhibited with a very depressive personality. A cave dweller.

French media are describing as a "miracle" the unscathed survival of an 18-month-old girl who fell from a sixth-floor apartment.[^]

The girl was left unattended by her parents when she somehow fell, then bounced off the awning of a cafe below. She had a further stroke of luck when a passing doctor saw her fall and caught her before she hit the ground, witnesses were quoted as saying. [. . .] The man who caught the girl was walking by with his wife and son when the boy spotted the girl falling.

Awesome bit of good fortune there. But her parents suck!

CPS needs to forcibly confiscate that child immediatly where he will grow up in an institution full of pedophiles and pissed off butch women. A kennel.

But, is there any indication in that statement to show the parent let her out. Could it be the kids opened the balcony door and went out on their own without the knowledge of their parent. Of course may ask, where were the parents. Believe me, I'd my share of slip ups, when I though the kids are in my sight, next thing you know they are playing in the other room, in the backyard, in the garage .....

My little brother - more than once - managed to climb up the rails of his crib, pull himself up onto the window ledge, work the screen loose (which most adults couldn't get open without pliers), and fall outside the house to the ground. Whereupon he crawled under a bush and watched in silence as the entire neighborhood searched, screaming his name, in search of him. Kids do the damnedest things, and it's no reflection on the parents if they fail to imagine all the possible things a child can get into. Gross negligence is an entirely different matter, as is deliberately placing a child at risk, but we've gone much too far in trying to legislate a risk-free existence, even for children. Childhood is a time for risks, learning hard lessons, skinning knees and falling out of trees. Take that away and you create a generation of weaklings, unable to cope in the real world. Just like we have now... God help us, these useless creatures will be running things soon. :sigh:

Didn't Eric Clapton loose a child in a similar fashion?

I've been there (in a VC commodore no less), nice place if I remember correctly. It was the western limit of our last pre-children road trip.

Nope, they've had US engines for ages but never the badge, it's an aftermarket wankerism. see here[^]

Wow, I see so many around I assumed (there's my mistake) that they must have been factory... Being a Ford man and all, it makes little difference to me!! ;-)

I hear a rumour that next year's Camp Quality esCarpade (being the 20th year) is going to follow the original route, which was something around Melbourne to South Australia... I hope you stop by to say g'day if we make it there!!

I've been there (in a VC commodore no less), nice place if I remember correctly. It was the western limit of our last pre-children road trip.

Yes, just at the end of the Great Ocean Road, most people do the road, end up here, then turn back. I'm not a big city person, so it suits me fine, not too far away from Melbourne for the odd trip if we need. I can walk with my kids to school from home in 5 mins, another 5 mins walking and I'm in my office. That's the best thing about living here for me.
