I made my own spreadsheets and tried and it worked. Then, about 5 minutes ago, it the scales fell from my eyes and I had it solved! The column$A$2:$A$2981wasn't numbers! It looked like numbers but it was F***ing Text! All solved. I rang her and told her it was done. Then promised to come round hit her with a big stick.------------------------------------ I will never again mention that I was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel. The truth is more prosaic, naturally, for the person I am most annoyed with is, unsurprisingly, myself! I cannot believe it did not occur to me before tonight. Truth is my sister is well versed in the dark arts of Excel, so I am amazed she made such a howler (assuming it was her howler and not one of her co-workers).

I don't think he is a noob to Excel. It's a common oversight with Excel. You always have to be aware of the formatting of your data in a spreadsheet. It happens to me all the time and I use Excel everyday to perform analysis.

This has happened to me a number of times, especially if there is a lot going on in my spreadsheet and I have different formatting involved with my data. What's great is that you solved the problem and now you are going to beat her senseless with a big stick. +5 :-D I know you don't celebrate Thanksgiving but have a good Holiday season anyways.
