I shall keep them more appropriate. I just let myself run away without thinking. Apologies have been made in general, but here is a personal one to you. Sorry if I let the side down.

I have to say I'm pretty depressed reading the thread (below) about the new member. Have you guys never seen a female before? Do you really need to perpetuate the myth that developers have no social skills and turn into pre-pubescent teenagers at the site sight of a woman? I am cringing at the thought of all the female developers in the world reading that thread, at all the wives and girlfriends of you guys reading that thread, and of members such as Leckey, Trollslayer, Lauren, and Corinna, just to name a few. I know you're just tryint to make fun, but no, not like this.

*Yawns* If you're gonna try and cause a stir about a new member, couldn't you guys come up with some new material? I've heard it ALL before, I posted a genuine question about a topic I'm struggling with, and all of a sudden there's 30+ posts about me personally. Get over it already!

A girl in Engineering AND IT?!...what is this nonsense?

May I just say welcome to the site, if nobody's done it already. More importantly, welcome to the Lounge, where we come to kick back, be immature and generally goof off. To quote a cousin of mine "Y'all wanna stop by sometime."

To be fair, some people have tried to answer the question, without drooling and going "phnerr phnerrr". That's the more usual response - after all, we are used to the ladies stopping on by here.

Yes, for a few minutes. But they'll appear again and again, craving for your attention, bathing in the sunshine of your emotional replies. Until you get really angry. But then it's too late to get rid of them. ;P Ignoring is boring, but it works cleaner and safer than anti-idiot-spray.

                                        This statement is false.

I know you're just tryint to make fun, but no, not like this.

cheers, Chris Maunder The Code Project | Co-founder Microsoft C++ MVP
