Who's on Kazaa?

Pseudo code looks something like this if (running) { spy on everyone send them pop up ads list lots of files from different users spy on everyone send them pop up ads send them to people who ask for them spy on everyone send them pop up ads } What more do you want to know ? :P Christian No offense, but I don't really want to encourage the creation of another VB developer. - Larry Antram 22 Oct 2002 C# will attract all comers, where VB is for IT Journalists and managers - Michael P Butler 05-12-2002 Again, you can screw up a C/C++ program just as easily as a VB program. OK, maybe not as easily, but it's certainly doable. - Jamie Nordmeyer - 15-Nov-2002

That's why it would be cool to have the sources, to modify all that :) And Kazaalite is really the p2p interface.
I hurt so bad inside I wish you could see the world through my eyes It stays the same I just wanna laugh again
KaЯl wrote: That's why it would be cool to have the sources, to modify all that Agreed. Though doesn't Kazaa just use the almost generic Gnutella network? If so then rather write your own UI and marshaler instead of hassling with the Kazaa code IMO. IMO the first person to release a truly usable and non-techy UI for this p2p network thingy will have a good thing on their hands. There are many lines of work which will benefit from p2p networks but are made up of non-techy people who really could not be bothered struggling with a daft UI. Downloading KazaaLite to see if it is any better...

Odd how much faster Kazzalite is than Kazaa. Using Kazaaa the searches took forever and downloading was a PITA. On the other hand in the last 5 minutes I have downloaded three files I wanted totalling 4 megs! Pretty damned good for my line.

Intel, and you're gonna think this is wierd when you hear it, has released a set of class libraries for .NET that they have called the Intel P2P Accelerator kit. I tried to download it again last night, but the site was undergoing some maintenance. I'll try again and get you the link. With that, we could set up a server somewhere that just manages connections and then we could have our own CodeProject P2P network.

Wow! Intel really has a lot for .NET. Some .NET related articles[^] Some C# related articles[^] And finally, the crown jewel: The Peer 2 Peer Center[^]

Paul Watson wrote: hough doesn't Kazaa just use the almost generic Gnutella network? At the begining, the first one to promote Kazaa technologies was Morpheus. After a while, Kazaa upgraded its network, but this time didn't sell the rights to Morpheus, who was totally dependant of it. Morpheus switched to a gnutella-like network, but without having back the speed and the choice offered by Kazaa. It was the end of Morpheus. However, because Kazaa is really dirty with its spywares (Kazaa needed money fast, it's a crisis period after all), someone cleaned the code, probably by decompilation: Kazaalite was born. Because many users of Kazaa network use now the lite version, Kazaa may loose a lot of its diversity and its success it has now if it tries to counter this "piracy". And it may give an opportunity to a new challenger
