I've used IE since it first came out. This latest release compelled me to switch to FF. They moved the favorites button and you can't move it: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie8-windows_other/im-left-handed-just-upgraded-to-ie9-how-do-i-move/a867fbb9-7516-46da-bc71-027170a4d037[^] Flash doesn't play in the 64-bit version.

It is much better than previous versions of IE. It will make life better for people who develop corporate intranet applications. But for personal use there really isn't much point. Chrome still outclasses IE. Also, since Chrome is constantly being updated and they don't have to worry about compatibility issues, I doubt IE will ever catch up.

I'm waiting to see what they announce for IE10 at Mix. I bet they'll keep their one year cycle. The changes they are proposing to CSS are very encouraging.

In the last batch of updates available I noticed IE 9 for Windows 7 64bit. I am hesitant to download it until I am sure it is ready for prime time and not just a beta test version being released so that the hoards of unpaid system testers can report problems. What are your experiences with IE 9, especially for Windows 7 64bit?

There have been a few work related sites that are broken in it, mostly from dodgy development practices, but other then that it's a solid browser. Also, the font rendering on CP is kinda funky.

No idea. I sent an email to them (zecco.com) and all they could tell me is that it works under FF and IE8. It does.

Adding variables and better support for large sites, adding dynamic layout features that work the way you would think right out of the box. Making sure that features are both simple for browsers to implement and use.

That is a bit troubling that something that works in IE8 doesn't in IE9.

It's OK, but you may want to use the 32-bit version as its much faster. MS couldn't be bothered to write a 64-bit version of their JavaScript engine, so JS performance is truly awful on IE9 64-bit. (I keep feeling like MS aren't really commited to 64-bit yet - still, at least Chrome is good)

I like it (on Vista 32-bit) but printing seems to be broken. It's faster than IE8 and gives me a bit more vertical space, which is nice on a widescreen notebook.
