I am using VBA with Access atm. To be honest VB6 is like riding a bike. You never really forget and every time you do it you are reminded why adults drive cars.
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

And similarly, when people find out that you have to use, they think "that guy must have made a poor career choice somewhere."

VB. Programming with the stabilisers on.

How'd that happen. Did someone finally not blink when you quoted your VB6 surcharge, or is the contract market so bad you had to swallow your pride to pay the mortgage?

Haha, no, it is a small sub project I am working on. I am evaluating moving this Access system to be migrated Oracle the thing was written back in 1998 or something. Most of my day is still occupied with doing statistical modeling which is really kind of fun. I had forgotten how much I actually like math. Access uses VBA, and VBA is VB6 without steroids.

Try VB without the stabilisers, it's a lot more fun http://www.vbaccelerator.com/home/VB/index.asp[^]

VB stands Victoria Bitter. I once drank it, but never code with it.

If you really hate yourself, try upgrading a VB6 program to VB 2010 that uses the Word Object...

VB is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get. VB is as VB does. My team uses VB, but half the time we can't get it to run for us, run as it might try.

Looks like a bunch of C programmers with nothing better to do but respond to this thread. There ain't nothing you can do in any other language that you can't do at least as well in VB.NET. I've used VB since it was QBasic (and probably earlier) and it is still the BEST for getting the job done!! If you can't do it in VB, it quite simply doesn't have to be done... Now the rest of you go get lost in your ";'s", brackets, etc. and let the productive people in VB get the job done on time and within budget!! bwana

I love programming in VBA/Excel. Its amazing that with even its many limitations, I am able to be so productive on Excel. -- www.athenatennis.com.sg Nurting creativity and talent in kids.

I really wonder who voted this up? I dont want to argue with vb vs c# preference. But based on my experience, c# is far more powerful than vb, I used both language on my profession but I'd prefer c#. So it's either you haven't used c# to its full content or you haven't met a productive person using c# that will make your productive VB dev look like a fresh grad. Nothing personal follows.
-
VB yes, using the 2000 Word object with VS 2010 not so much.

I do about 70% C#, 20 % VB and that last 10 between C++ and web stuff where I work. The 20% VB is upgrading old vb 6 programs that the original programmer won't let me re-do in C#. However for a lot of smaller projects VB is fine and sometimes faster to get working. It's just nice that there are some things you can do in C# that you can't do in VB. Though from the looks of it, VB is about 1 Version behind C# right now.
