The Nazis tried to train dogs to talk, read and spell to help them win World War II, it has been revealed. [^] I would have thought teaching them to rip enemy soldiers throats out would have sufficed but aparently not, the Germans thought teching dogs to count and talk would be better: (ruff voice) "Handen hogh! Ze war is over for you two Tommys!" Cant see it myself, especially as they hadnt taught the dogs to use machine guns. :)

Either you or the dog must still practice a little bit. Handen hogh? That sounds more like Dutch :)

You'd get a bunch of dogs wandering around saying "hungry! hungry! HUNGRY!" and then pointing at restuarant menus and wagging their tails.

I wonder if that's what Frederick Forsyth was referring to when he wrote "The Dogs of War" in 1974???

No respectable dog would say something like that around here. They would of course get in after a small talk beginning with "Vee got vayz of ...."

Interesting. Would you also care to explain why the dogs obviously heve been to foreign radio propaganda? Please have a seat, our talk will certainly take a little longer. And please don't mind the civilian who will also listen to your explanations. Pretend he's not here at all.

They didn't, they just invaded Poland and then France declared war on Germany.

Do you REALLY want someone (or an animal) with a limited vocabulary and poor manual deterity anywhere near a firearm? I've seen that mix first-hand at my local firing range, and it's a truly scary thing to see.
