Which Tablet?

So it's my birthday soon & I thought I might treat myself to a tablet. It'd be used mainly at home - for web browsing, maybe book reading, possibly a game or two - oh and for posting on CP of course. I know almost nothing about the tablet market and would be interested in any recommendations (or the opposite) Cheers, m'dears

Nah. All suggestions so far were for round or rectangular tablets, you would never know what edge is the top. Go for a triangular one, an isosceles triangle is best. Maybe harder to find, but much more practical in daily use. :)

To be honest, I've got no use for a tablet, but I was tempted to buy a dozen or so on my last trip to China. Try here[^], before forking out a fortune for something made in the same factories, but "vastly augmented" by stuffing it in a box with a western company's label.

avoid stone tablets. current best practices limits their use to Commandments only.

It depends on what you want. If you want the ooohhhh factor for impressing non-techie types, get an iPaid. If you want functionality at a reduced cost, get a Xoom. If, however, you want one that you can put into a jacket pocket and carry around in a useful manner, get the Galaxy Tab. I have a tab, I have loads of apps I am happy with it.

I've had an iPad for the better part of a year now. Does all the things you mention very well and has great battery life. The lack of Flash has only been a problem when I tried to online check-in for a flight last fall. The site used flash so I wound up checking in at the kiosk in the airport instead. I never used sites with Flash much before, though, so that helps. Cheers, Drew.

I would suggest get samsung galaxy tab.

Well, I've been seriously looking at this[^] tablet. It's been getting good reviews, and it seems pretty impressive - plus it's a lot cheaper than the Galaxy. I do know that I will be an MS fanboy next year and buy a tablet with Win8 installed, but I will do that via the company as we will be developing for it.

Well, I've been seriously looking at this[^] tablet. It's been getting good reviews, and it seems pretty impressive - plus it's a lot cheaper than the Galaxy. Yeah, I've been checking that one out too... From what I've heard, it has a few technical problems, most of which could be fixed in the firmware... I still have a couple concerns: 1) No RJ-45 on the dock, and USB-to-Ethernet adapters apparently don't work in Android. My company ships me out sometimes, and not every hotel has WiFi (Not planning on using it for work, but I like to stay connected). 2) The keyboard dock has been so hard to find, that I haven't been able to try it out in a store... I've been able to get my hands on the tablet itself (Really cool, by the way), but they never have the keyboard dock... Always out of stock. If not for those two things, I probably would have bought one yesterday, when I was playing with it in a store :)

Well, AFAIK it lacks support for it's SD card slot... There are also much better and cheaper options, like the ASUS EEE Transformer or the Acer tablet.
