OK, I should have been more precise. A Jordanian stick of butter is 100g. I assume the American one is different because they still haven't converted to the metric system. They will. They will come and join us and we will welcome them to the light...

Oh, I assumed Canada was the same as US in this case, didn't even think of Jordan. A USian butterstick weighs (supposedly) 4 ounces, which is the same as 113g, which is close enough. I'm not even up to date on whether Canada is metric or not. :-O

It is metric :) but imperial measurements are widely understood, so Canada is bilingual this way too. To the best of my knowledge the USA is the only country still using the imperial system of measurement

The UK seems to have a bit of a mixed feeling about the metric vs the imperial system. They're still measuring distance in miles and speed in miles per hour. And if you buy beers they're 568 ml which would be an odd measure if it wasn't the same as a pint. Our british members could probably make a much longer list if they felt like it. I personally love the old monetary system of UK.
"NOTE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AND AMERICANS: One shilling = Five Pee. It helps to understand the antique finances of the Witchfinder Army if you know the original British monetary system:
Two farthings = One Ha'penny. Two ha'pennies = One Penny. Three pennies = A Thrupenny Bit. Two Thrupences = A Sixpence. Two Sixpences = One Shilling, or Bob. Two Bob = A Florin. One Florin and one Sixpence = Half a Crown. Four Half Crowns = Ten Bob Note. Two Ten Bob Notes = One Pound (or 240 pennies). One Pound and One Shilling = One Guinea.
The British resisted decimalized currency for a long time because they thought it was too complicated."

Good, I did something right for the Vegetarians :) somewhat OT: I've always wondered, are Hindus/Jainists/Sikhs Vegetarian or Vegan? Because I've met both.

The Hindus are vegetarians. Vegan is a bullshit concept, which goes against evolution (we start by feeding on breast milk, right?) Jains are vegetarians, and they additionally avoid root vegetables (beetroot, carrot, etc.,). Their philosophy is that the plant is being destroyed in order to obtain such vegetables, so that's a life taken, which is equivalent to killing an animal to them. So, a typical Jain will see onion like he sees meat, but he'll happily consume milk, because no life is harmed or destroyed in the extraction of milk. Sikhs are vegetarians too. There are also Eggatarians, who are vegetarians, but additionally consume eggs.

Yes, much better than before. I was going through some serious crunch time, now I'm done with that and waiting to get paid before I move out of Jordan.

Would be nice if you described the dish before you got into the detaisl of making it. You know - motivation, features and benefits before implementation details and stuff.

Not all Hindus are vegetarians. Mallu Hindus actually are nearly always non-vegetarian.

Veganism applies to non-human animal products. It's a personal choice not associated with any religious belief. So drinking breast-milk is okay with vegans. BTW just as you veggies think veganism is stupid, us meat eaters think veggies are stupid. It's a vicious cycle :-)

Veganism is always a by-choice thing and not associated with any religion. Pracatising Jains are always vegetarian as it's an integral part of Jainism. Sikhs can be either vegetarian or non-vegetarian. There is no strict code there. As for Hindus, a vast majority do not eat porrk or beef, but based on various stats I've seen around 75% of Indian Hindus eat meat of some form (mostly chicken, lamb, fish). We still have the caste-system under hinduism although it's not as hierarchial as it used to be. What I mean is there is no concept of upper or lower castes, just different castes. There is a caste of Hindus called brahmins who are typically vegetarians. Except in West Bengal where the brahmins eat fish and Kerala where the brahmins eat egg.

I agree. I should have made it clear that there are sub divisions of all types. :)
