Pete, I have never started a thread about politics here, and I never will. As far as I'm concerned the entire thread can and probably should be deleted. If I start a thread in here, it is almost always a joke. I can do all the political bashing I want to in Soapbox 1 However, I do not read the top as saying that it's OK for Brits and Aussies to indulge themselves in insults about America or American politics but we have to STFU. As Wizard pointed out, it is inhabitants of the other English-speaking countries that shoot their mouths off about America and our way of life (usually revealing an abysmal ignorance of what is actually happening over here) and start most of the threads about American politics.

Pete, I have never started a thread about politics here, and I never will. As far as I'm concerned the entire thread can and probably should be deleted. If I start a thread in here, it is almost always a joke. I can do all the political bashing I want to in Soapbox 1 However, I do not read the top as saying that it's OK for Brits and Aussies to indulge themselves in insults about America or American politics but we have to STFU. As Wizard pointed out, it is inhabitants of the other English-speaking countries that shoot their mouths off about America and our way of life (usually revealing an abysmal ignorance of what is actually happening over here) and start most of the threads about American politics.

That's fair enough, and you should feel free to slap us about if we do. I try to stay away from the American politics threads because I don't have the first clue about the American political system. But I will say that each country displays an outstanding lack of knowledge about other countries. For instance, Americans have no real idea about what goes on in the UK and People from the UK have zero knowledge about what goes on in Australia (actually, for such a large country, Australia goes pretty much unnoticed by absolutely everybody). These are obviously generalisations but they do tend to stick because most people buy into the stereotypes. Anyway, back to the point - there are rules to this forum and both you and Ravel are ignoring them to continue your vendetta against each other. This thread could be about flower arranging, and you would still both be at each others throats. Now, we both know that Ravel is still a child and, as such, not mature enough to let go - but you are the man, so laugh it off and let it go. Don't rise to his goads and you will both stop rubbing each up the wrong way.

I hate to say this, but comparing Gordon Brown to the failed painter one doesn't bother us in the UK. He was best viewed as a joke, when he was in power. Unfortunately, the joke wore thin.

Maybe that played the tiniest part in it - until the recent standoff I hadn't even heard of the Tea Party. And yes, Europe is just as bad with European leaders going on holiday while their economies were in melt-down, so there are faults on all sides.

I'll reiterate; you can't vote for them and there's little more annoying than a foreigner telling us who should lead us. Nobody has a problem with the U.S. financial system when there's growth and it's working, but ohhh shit, lost money, now everyone's interested. Economies are cyclical, and many countries have gone through periods of lost decades, this will pass and everyone will go back to criticizing politician's tastes in mistresses eventually. I do see your point, but I'm learning to stop caring about who's in charge in other countries that I have no influence or control over, (China), and it's making me appreciate more and more of what I have here. Say what you like about Maggie, but she had balls. Unfortunately, the legacy of Blair will last for generations - he's part of the reason why our country is completely screwed. Here's Cameron - are you sure it's Cameron. Him and his identikit deputy Nick Clegg are virtual twins - like Tweedledum and Tweedledummer.

Except that the Tea Party is more like an apocalyptic cult than a political party. Not all politicians are proud of being ignorant and stupid or wave loaded handguns at journalists' chests.

Sadly, the more volatility there is, the more trading there is, the more trading there is, the higher my teams revenue, the higher my teams revenue, the bigger my monthly bonus. In a weird way, as it stands, I gain personal financial benefit from good or bad world events. I made a few bucks more than normal when OBL was killed.

When???? There's only political trickery and jiggery-pokery thinly disguising the fact that they went bankrupt years ago. Ironically (given how this thread started), the problem is Germany. They are artificially keeping the Euro up - if they were to devolve their currency then the Euro countries could descend to a level at which they could cope financially.
