What of 'Ich Bleibst auf Dortmund', would that work? (To be fair I haven't lived in Germany for over 20 years, so I am a bit rusty).

Hmm... that depends on what you really meant. "Bleibst" is the wrong declaration; that one is for "you", not "i" (Du bleibst). If you wanted to say that you will stay in Dortmund, then it would be "Ich bleibe in Dortmund". But hey, that's the Ruhrpott we're talking 'bout - they _do_ have a really funny grammar up there, so every grammar mistake you might made could be easily blamed on the guys in the Ruhrpott.

That seems to be a PEBKAC problem, Sir. Why don't you go and fetch a coffee while I handle the operation?

No... "Ich bleibe in Dortmund."... if you've got "I'm staying in Dortmund." in your mind... but who want's to stay on Dortmund???

Now, that's a good question. I should head over to Youtube and look at some Tarzan clips

I am aware of the madness of the Lünenvolk. And Aplerbeck isn't much better. But I got told that when I speak German, it sounds very aristocratic.

Don't have that problem; I'm really some hours away from Munich, and I wouldn't want to be there in the first place (too crowdy for me, and while I do enjoy the occasional beer, I'm from a "wine country" and prefer the Rebensaft).

Same here, could be there within minutes, but I really try to avoid it as long as possible. I have to go there with clients anyway, but i try to push that ahead as far as possible every year. Don't like the big crowds of tourists that think, they have to dress up to go there.

Here it's not the tourists who dress up. Just right now there are more people with the correct outfit in the room than not :)

Köln. That makes you a "Preiß" in the eyes of the locals, no matter how much assimilated. :-)
