    I received an email from a recruiter tell me about leveraging web 2.0 tools to pipeline quality talent. How do I explain that I'd rather find an interesting, talented, professional developer whom I like personally and who wishes to do a solid days work for a fair salary while feeling valuable for their contributions?

              You have no idea how true this is, I was in an interview and I was asked "Tell me about Java." To which I replied "Well, what would you like to know? Coding examples? What I have used Java for? How it is designed to be platform independant? Your question is a bit vague in scope." I got a deer in the headlights look as a reply. Needless to say, I didn't get the job but ended up getting a MUCH better one shortly thereafter. :-D

                                        I don't use recruiters very often, but when I do, I treat them as a resource, one that I have to train. After that break-in period, they can be useful, as long as you keep in mind the pros and cons. Their initial email should be treated like a leaflet dropped from 10,000 feet.
