Isn't also up there with the average income of most persons in India as well?

Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. Yes that seems fairly close to what a middle-class Indian would make a month.

I have seen those prices (over $1,000) on Amazon for an iPhone 4S. Not sure why somebody would buy it from there for that price when they can get it directly from Apple for less.

Right. I am just curious why a US customer would buy an iPhone for $1,100 from Amazon when they can get it from Apple for $850. One seller even lists the price as $1,300. Perhaps it has faster shipping or something.

And that 40 times a compelling reason why not to by one. I've had a iPhone and they're grossly overrated, personally I prefer my HTC Titan Windows Phone.

Maybe it's easier to get unlocked phones from Amazon. Also usually no tax depending on what state you live in and what state they ship out of.

My LG Optimus 7 is the first smartphone I own. Very satisfied with it for almost a year now. I'd only change it for a Nokia Windows Phone (Lumia 800).

Not quite true. Most people here pay the same price but a little more subtle. I got two Samsung Galaxy S for me and her for $30 each which sounds great for a $900 phone, but…they come with 2 years contract renewal, mandatory shity data plan, GPS usage fees, general plan upgrade etc. Now I’m paying two-three times more monthly as I used to before.

Well data-plans in India are way more expensive than here too. The one thing that's cheaper is incoming text/voice - which is free in India (all providers).

It’s the same in Europe. Paying for the incoming calls and sms’ is a specific US “invention”.

Seems like a stupid invention. I and many others would have abused the heck out of it in highschool. Don't like someone? Organize a group to send them a barrage of texts.
