Nope, but then I don't believe that slitting an animals throat is any less painful or instant than firing a bolt into its brain in the majority of cases. Stunning isn't guaranteed, and doesn't work as it should in many, many cases.

Every man can tell how many goats or sheep he possesses, but not how many friends.

The non-observant man in that who said "that bit of halibut was good enough for Jehovah" was to be stoned, and Brian and his mother went to the stone seller and bought two points, two flats and a bag of gravel. Never mind, I'll get me coat!

Gravel? You lucky sod! When I were a lad we would dream of gravel, all we had was ground up glass and our dad would kill us before we paid t'mill owner for t'priviledge.

I will not eat Halal or Kosher meat. I dislike the ritualised slaughter of animals, if they are going to be killed for table that is fine, but it should be done quickly and humanely, not bled to death with a mystic standing over it sussurating spells and incantations as its life slowly seeps away.

I had to google it, but yes, that would be an acceptable method of dispatch. Instantaneous and painless (presuming the Jhatkaist(?) was skilled. I particularly agree with this... The reason for Sikhs avoiding Kutha "does not lie in religious tenet but in the view that killing an animal with a prayer is not going to ennoble the flesh."

The Islamic way of slaughtering ensures that maximum blood is taken out of the animal's body due to capillary action which makes the meat hygenic for human consumption. It also almost instantaneously cuts down the blood supply to the brain so the brain does not actually feel pain. The suffering of the animal as seen by the observer is not due to pain but due to the capillary action of the blood oozing out of the animal's blood vessels.
