Once more atheism rules. Don't go to jail for wizards beliefs.

I believe that what rules is the secular state: those wanting to follow the wizards will be free to do so, without imposing their beliefs to the others...

India is supposedly secular, but not always so in practice.

Not sure, but JSOP would know what you get if you divorce one.

MP (Madhya Pradesh). MP law: 7 yrs in jail for eating beef, cops can raid on mere suspicion[^] Incidentally, 7 years is also what a rapist or a 2nd degree murderer gets.

One more example of religious fanatics imposing their beliefs on others. Btw, a rapist rarely gets a 7 year term. In most cases, the victim is blamed and asked to marry the rapist and in some rare cases, the rapist gets 2 years terms and few thousands in fine.

MP is ruled by BJP (aka RSS) whose ideologies are based on Hindu nationalism (aka extremism). They treat cow like a deity and cow slaughter is banned in all BJP ruled states. Being Hindus, they have every right to say no to cow' meat; but have no right to force people of other religions not to eat cow's meat.

What do you get for spamming the politicians with pictures of people eating beef and signing them up on the American Beef Board's "Beef Recipe of the day" email list? hmmm, I should probably have asked that an hour ago.

BJP is not RSS. They are two different organisations, with different goals (one political, another ideological).

I disagree that it's extremism in any way. If that is the case, what do you have to say about the hundreds of Muslim organisations? They are somehow "secular" but BJP/RSS are communal/extremist? Why?

                        Shameel wrote:

How Hindus feel about cow slaughter is different from say, what a Muslim feels about eating pork. Muslims don't eat pork, but don't consider pigs sacred. On the other hand, Hindus don't eat cow meat because they consider cows sacred animals. Naturally, they would protect something that is sacred to them. So what they are doing is not anything against Muslim, Christians, or those Hindus who do eat beef, but it's something to protect the cows from getting slaughtered. So you see, it's not fanatism. Just like if you pass laws that prohibit you from killing another human being, it's not fanatism.
