Talk about passing judgement. You have no idea who these moms are. And why do conservatives get criticized for standing up for what they believe and liberals don't? Give me a break. It's just their opinion. They have a right to it. Leave them alone.

Liberals get criticised all the time. It is just that the conservatives get criticised for hating, whilst the liberals get criticised for not hating enough.

LOL. Well, one just died recently. Many considered him quite zealous about atheism. And I believe he even called himself a zealot.

It's not hate, but that's what the liberals like to call it when they're disagreed with.

Having an intense dislike of someone because of who they are isn't hate? Seems like a fairly good definition to me.

Yes, I agree with that definition. But nobody said Ellen was hated, just what she stands for and how she chooses to live her life. My father and mother punished me when I did wrong, they "hated" the wrong, but they loved me enough to correct me. Their hatred of my wrongdoing does not equate to hating me. The hatred of what Micheal Vic was doing (dog fighting) does not equate to hating him. The hatred of bigotry and discrimination and slavery does not equate to hating the bigoted, nor to hating the discriminator, nor to hating the slave holder. Likewise, someone hating how some people choose to live, does not equate to hating those people who live that way.

Think gene therapy or some such. Why wouldn't it be curable? If someone desired to change that and the technology were available, why not? Why would that not be just as acceptable as a sex change operation?

As I said to ryanb31 this ain't the place for this sort of discussion but you might want to start from examining whether homosexuality is something 'curable' I don't want to put words in your mouth/keyboard but you seem to be suggesting that it is some form of illness. I don't think that it is and since neither of us is likely to move from our position it is fruitless to discuss it further. :)

I didn't say what your views of homosexuality were. It's quite obvious that you think it's ok, and that you approve of a group that pressured Komen to supply funds to abort babies. It's quite obvious that you think ill of a group (you called them zealots, a pejorative term) that is attempting to pressure JC Penney to fire someone because of their "lifestyle". It's clear you think they should be silenced. You are correct that having Ellen Degeneres as a spokesperson and Abortion are not the same thing. What is the same is that these two groups should be allowed to voice their opinions freely and not be attacked and demonized for thinking differently. You are a hypocrite and a bigot.

With their usual threats of boycotts, etc. In my world, that goes beyond voicing of opinions. What is more ironic than a 'right to lifer' sniping at people entering an abortion clinic - or even more mildly, knocking down pregnant women! I'm not blind to the pressure put on the Komen foundation by those who said they'd no longer donate to them if they persist in their scheme. The targeting of Planned Parenthood (in particular) has long been a favorite of the vocal components of the right. The decision of the previously referred to infestation of Komen's board by those who subvert its reason for being for their own political agenda outweighed the that. How so? Because donors gave money for optimization of detecting breast cancer in women - and here we have active efforts to reduce the effectiveness for purely political purposes: woman who may lose a breast - or their life? Just collateral damage for their incredibly perverse concept of a greater good. What I see here is that you may have a strong cultural bias against (1) abortion, and (2) homosexuality. I have my own religious and cultural bias' - but my upbringing also enables me to compartmentalize my beliefs, even isolating them, when it's for the greater civic good.

I actually wasn't suggesting that it was any form of "illness". But there are some who say it's in the genes, hence my suggestion of gene therapy, if gene therapy ever becomes available or desirable. But you are probably right that it would be a fruitless discussion.
