Best movie depiction of a software developer (or "hacker" as Hollywood calls them)
-
I was thinking about Newman in Jurassic Park and his awesome "ah, ah, ah!" when they entered the wrong password, and then the "I'm a Mac" dude in that movie where he used a Nokia to do everything up to, and possibly including, piloting a space shuttle or something (OK, I may have fallen asleep in that one). What would you say are the best movie depictions of a software developer?

Independence Day. Anyone who can ride in an alien spacecraft and hack into a system they've never seen with an unconnected laptop and upload a virus that messes up an alien operating system before they even know how the OS works is a DUDE!

my thoughts as well
It used to be what you know that got you ahead, then it was who you know, now its what you know about who you know that gets you ahead. Be careful which toes you step on today, they might be connected to the foot that kicks your butt tomorrow. You can't scare me, I have children.

Call me a bluff old traditionalist, but I actually like "Hackers". Substitute "management" for The Plague and "sales" for Agent Richard Gill and I start to relate :) Nick

An old army dude once said words to the effect of "I'll go watch war movies when they start showing soldiers messing their pants when they're getting shot at" So for me, when they start showing coders scratching their heads wondering why the hell things aint working the way they're supposed to and generally looking like they dont have a clue ..... Bryce but Eddie Izzard is good Hollywood hacking[^]

I don't remember that movie very well, but I remember that when I saw it I felt it was the worst movie I had ever seen. Though, Darren Aronofski more than made up for it with The Fountain, which is one of my top 10 favorite movies.
