Quick Commands and searchable windows have nothing to do with colors, but if thats all you got from the post then I am guessing you only "looked" at it and did not read it. Even just the styling things there are items not about colors White space styling vs. line and Removal of non essential commands by default to mention a couple

So it's seem colors and gradients are now out again? These things seem to be cyclic. Expect VS 12 (or maybe 13 if I'm being generous) to boast about it's brightly colored icons and tasteful use of gradients.
Well if you think about marketing that is what makes sence to do. If everything is colorful and bright and you want your system to stand out and be unique tone down. Then when everyone begins to mimic you (again), brighten up. Rinse and repeat and stay ahead of the market :-D

Well if you think about marketing that is what makes sence to do. If everything is colorful and bright and you want your system to stand out and be unique tone down. Then when everyone begins to mimic you (again), brighten up. Rinse and repeat and stay ahead of the market :-D

While I think it's generally a positive move in the interface, I am not so sure about the iconography. The comment, uncomment icons, for instance, aren't intuitive.

That was my thoughts as well. I think the iconography could work and I see the point, but some of the ones they showed ...:confused: But seems they are claiming the new new users find it easily. From one percpective that is sightly more important as the 'new' users just need to be retrained. The new new users however have no training and do not know the functionality (thus too much stuff hides the good stuff). Might just be we need to see it more to imprint our brains.

I would have rather they just fixed bugs and increased the speed of VS than change the interface. I don't meant to be the stodgy old fart but do programmers really care about icongraphy so long as it is easy to identify and is always in the same place? (Oh, wait they kept the annoying ever changing tool bar)
Need custom software developed? I do custom programming based primarily on MS tools with an emphasis on C# development and consulting. I also do Android Programming as I find it a refreshing break from the MS. "And they, since they Were not the one dead, turned to their affairs" -- Robert Frost

Amen to that. I came to VS2010 from VS6 - 2010 runs like a dog in comparison. Even with multi-core compilation, it is still slower than VS6, compilation regularly freezes up my whole machine and the compilation dependency scanner seems to have taken a huge step backwards (it uses some arcane an indecipherable rules to decide what needs recompiling and when - and pretty much always decides that everything needs to be rebuilt).

I have no doubt that DevDiv's war on Moore's law is continuing apace and that the release version will consume between 2x and 3x as many system resources as VS2k10 does. Meanwhile I'm at least a year from a laptop upgrade and strongly suspect that what I'll be getting (a CPU that blocks twice as hard on IO bottlenecks, and a new battery) will have little relation to what I want (240GB SSD, 16GB ram) other than the fact that it will cost twice as much as upgrading my system while delivering less of a return.
