No need to justifiy racism because he did or did not do something.

"Misunderstanding" is how a lot of harassment claims start. Besides, when you only get part of one side of the story, you gotta wonder what's being left out.

You never argued with anyone over the work?

No I argue a lot, but it is always work related argument - why the application behaves a certain way or why a particular button is placed where it is on the screen and so on. Also when you are busy with work, it is rare that you will find time for arguments which are not work related. Also the solution for not getting disturbed is to find a distraction. What is a better distraction than work at a workplace.

So how is concentrating on work going to avoid getting into an argument then? And why would an argument about work be less likely to involve one party descending into some sort of abuse or bullying?

One of our staff misunderstood my behaviour at work place and we had a big argument . During that she started talking about my race and skin color and all. I directly went to HR and made a complain , they are investigating it now. We are supposed to go for discussion this Friday. How should I handle this? I am disturbed , don't want to face that lady during the office hours, but have no option, whenever I see her ,I am feeling really uncomfortable. Any advice guys?

Ok, and? Do you have control over your race or skin color? Quit getting so hung up on words, man. As long as folks continue to play the race card, we will continue to have racial problems.

Apologize and move on. Whether or not this other person accepts your apology is not your problem. You've made peace, and that's all you can do.

Funny thing - my wife's place is going through this same thing right now. A black man was called a n****** by a white man at one of their places. The black man then hauled off and slapped the white man. The result - both are now being fired through the company's no tolerance policy for either thing.

What did you do, and how did she "misunderstand" it. As far as being "disturbed" about it, I think you just need to go to the store and buy some big girl panties.

Bringing up someone race, disability, gender, or sexuality is not a good idea during an argument at work, just as it is not smart during an interview, or during the committal of a crime. You don't have to agree to the law to be bound by it. Anyway, unless a pattern is established (happened more than once) or she is a superior, nothing will happen, probably sensitivity training.

If it does you are clearly working at in a wrong company with wrong people. I will seek a new job in that case. Professionals should not act that way.

In which case the racists or the bullies have won and forced people out by acting like an arse. A bad company does not become a better one when the good people leave.
