When memory cards are so light, and spinning disks have a motor and arm and arm controller, I wonder how there isn't a larger difference.

Windows 7 dual boots wonderfully on Macs. Or you can run Windows in a VM, but if that's your primary environment I wouldn't recommend it.

One of our developers used to do this... he didn't seem to have too much trouble, but he also had other Windows machines that he could switch to if need be.

I believe you, I'm just perplexed. Only thing I can think of is materials used?

I'd suggest buying a laptop with all the specs you want minus the SSD. Then buy a top notch SSD and throw away the drive that comes with the laptop. Gives you more control over the final hardware. Not all SSDs are created equal.

I've found this to be true... but I've also found their quoted specs to not be anywhere near their real performance specs... so it's really hard to find what's a good drive. Although there might be more reviews from third parties now that when I looked into this a couple of years back.

Illuminated keyboard i7 or better processor SSD (no spinning drives) don't want "lapstation" (as in, I want something lightweight) I can't seem to find anything like this, except maybe a really high-end Alienware which isn't what I'm looking for. Anyone come across something with the specs above? Marc

I would go for a Dell Latitude E6420, it has everything you want. I7, SSD and backlit keyboard isn't standard though, you need to configure it to get that. As a bonus, you can use a dockingstation supporting two monitors and real keyboards and mice.

Light moves faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright, until you hear them speak. List of common misconceptions

Could be... maybe the case is thicker to touch the chips and dissipate the heat created internally. Not really sure, they're pretty expensive so tearing them apart isn't a good option at this point... :-D

You might check out the ASUS Zenbook UX21 or UX31.

Maybe the difference is your respective locations.

Most likely ... I think I'd want something like this next time I shop around for a laptop ;)
