Reminds me of an old joke. A man escapes from prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While trying the homeowners wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, kisser her neck and goes into the bathroom. More reliable wins in my opinion. AK-47 is also easier to clean and to keep clean.

The reliability of the modern m16 is much better than it was in the original form. However, I do agree with you that the AK-47 is more rugged, easier to clean and upkeep, plus you can pretty much do anything to them and they keep firing. The AK-47 would be my choice as well. Plus if you get a high quality AK variant, they are just as accurate.

true, the 5.56 ammo is pretty handsome. But also doesn't affect as much damage as the good old 7.62.

they put a very low twist in the M16 to give the bullet a low spin thus making it more likely to tumble on entry and cause massive internal wounding. OK, it wont go through trees and still keep in a straight line, but it is an effective weapon.
