My point was that people were warned DAYS in advance. FEMA should never have been an issue if people just listened to the warnings and got out of there. Its a troubling trend that people are becoming more and more reliant on government. Self reliant people got out of there, were safe, and dealt with their flood insurance to rebuild their houses.

"Six Italian scientists and an ex-government official have been sentenced to six years in prison over the 2009 deadly earthquake in L'Aquila. A regional court found them guilty of multiple manslaughter" :wtf: They should have put to trial all the engineers and building contractor who did not do their jobs of designing and building that can withstand earthquakes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20025626[^]

I think he's welcome to trash pedophiles anywhere he likes. So long as it's on topic and relevant. And yes, it is "pedo" see here[^]

I bow to your expertise on the terminology. The reason I don't think it's a topic for the lounge is that it's a one that can quickly degenerate beyond what is acceptable here. The soapbox is the perfect place for us to riff on these priests, not the lounge. And I stand by my main point that it has absolutely sod all to do with the topic at hand.

Meanwhile you start a UK vs. US spelling debate? Please, now that is the new Godwin's Law.
It had nothing to do with a UK v US spelling - pedo means foot to me (as in pedometer), but that's probably prevalent with me being a Talipes sufferer. And it would be a greek spelling debate if you want to get technical because pedo is derived from greek in both of those cases.

Agreed. Perhaps you're right that such topic belong in the SB.

Agreed. BTW, and OT: I like that phrase. I'll be adopting it.

You can't let it go? It is just another UK vs. US spelling debate. You're wrong anyways, ped means child in Greek, as in pediatrician. pedo means ground or soil in Greek (not the root of what we are talking about). ped as in foot comes from Latin ped, for foot.

Okay... so where the priests molesting feet? My stars, that whole thing is sicker than I imagined.

Are you sure they weren't foot whores? You're a filthy, filthy man.
Given that I was having operations to have my feet straightened, I find that in a little bad taste.

Does this straightening start out by taking ones foot out of ones mouth? :P :ducksforcover:

No. It involves removing it from the arse of people who think they're funny. ;P

Errm, no it's not. There was absolutely sod all to do with religion in the verdict, the article or even the case itself. By all means, trash peado (not pedo - that's to do with feet) priests in the Soapbox, but keep the lounge free from it.
