I can levitate birds...It is a great thing that someone has finally started to do something about this issue. I believe that web pages should work on all browsers; but anyone who has written atleast one page knows that it becomes a PITA very soon. Usually this is because the HTML and CSS references that are used are from the browser makers themselves. In theory, HTML conversion tools can be created that will take HTML/css/scripts working fine on one browser and create copies that will work on all browsers OR implement the same functionality on other target browsers. But, this is a good starting point, although without an automated tool, many problems can slip through. A couple of years ago when I wote a web app I noticed that IE shows tables correctly even if say a row's </td> is missing; but Netscape will not show the table at all. This maeks it difficult for the author because he has to go through checking every page with all browsers. This may not be a viable proposition, considering deadlines that have to be met. Only as dumb as those idiot webmasters that dump you to a similar page because you're not using IE on a Windows O/S. * yes, I have come across these on occasion, thankfully they are not as commonplace as they used to be *

I can levitate birds...I agree, it's pretty dumb to dump anybody to a page like the one mentioned just because they aren't using your preferred browser. If the website is designed good then most of the content should be fairly browser independent anyway. Well, Opera can be set to report itself as MSIE, but that didn't work. I really didn't try hard either. I am getting close to switching to Opera just because I am so damn sick of all the popups. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

This is the type of person, who probably winges about Betamax. Yes Betamax was technically better - or was it - it could not have a 120min or 2 hour tape format initially. Netscape was good, until IE got better. We still have Netscape 4.5 on the install at work, and it looks and feels awful compared to IE. Opera, has some good points(I'm a fan of the MDI/SDI & MDI combo, as well as the gestures), but there are come clear advantages IT has, its clean, unclutered and fast. Sorry am I ranting. I like a good rant. I'll rant at anybody who replies to my messages. :-D Sorry, Giles

No dynamic view does not work. But it does seem more stable than 6.03, i.e. it hangs less often!

Opera 6 is great. Really, its got lots of the little things that make the experience better. e.g. (1) mouse gestures (a little wiggle is all it takes) (2) MDI windows in a nice way. (3) Open Link in backround. (4) rerhesh page envery (30 secs, 1 min, .... 60 min) The new version 7, while looking better, its slower. It seems to stall every now and again. I keep hearing about Phoenix. Must give it a try.

I'm using Proxomitron. It's just a matter of choosing which User Agent it's sending to the site. And guess what? It's an empty page. I see dumb people
