The article [^]reads... In what appears to be an internal Sun Microsystems Inc. memo, Sun engineers criticize the Java platform and the Solaris operating system. "We believe that our Java implementation is inappropriate for a large number of categories of software application ... We would generally prefer to deploy our applications in Java but the implementation provided for Solaris is inadequate to the task of producing supportable and reliable products" In addition, the memo claims that many bugs filed against Java are closed as "will not fix"—to the tune of 22 percent, whereas only 7 percent for C++ bugs. The memo also criticizes the size of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) and addresses compatibility concerns. Nice to know that $un engineers have so much confidence in their own platform. Here is link to the memo [^] itself. .NET rules!!!!!!!! Mike M WinInsider.com

Yep, these problems where highlighted in an article last week on The Inquirer. From what this is saying, its not that Java is flawed, its just Suns own implementation is completely kanckered, and looks like its not goinf to get better, which is fairly amusing. The memory usage of the JVM is amazing. So that completely wrecks practicle implmentations of their Sun Ray thin client stuff which they have been touting for the past 5 years. Never mind.
