Thanks for that response. I still don't understand how you arrived to that conclusion. That's why I am trying to understand why you believe that. Was hoping to get some articles to read that supports your belief. My whole philosophy is "the proof is in the pudding". Not trying to poke fun at you or anything like that. Was curious and wanted to understand why you believe that. Never the less I appreciate this dialogue. I truly do. :)

2 fold. One, I already explained. The other, I believe that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and that through him, Christ restored His church. There's a lot more details to it than that, but that's the summary. Why DO you believe that Peter was a pope, or that the Catholic church goes all the way back to Peter? Why do you think the Bible ended?

You think you've got problems, our house is more like the UN. :) We called the wee'un Adam because it's the only name me & the missus have in common. All the biblical names are different in Arabic Abraham --> Ibrahim, John --> Yohanna (???, come to think of it this is feminine????) etc. The MIL didn't like Adam and tried to get me to choose something a bit more Arab. Don't get me wrong, their names can be really nice, but I didn't want to label the wee'un. So I asserted my rights as head of the household (ha!) and threatened to call him George, which is unpronounceable to her side. LOLZ If & when no 2 comes along, we're hoping for a girl as there are plenty of names to choose from.....

Was it enough that the names should be pronounced the same or did they need to have the same spelling? I was thinking of Daniel - Danyal. We faced the same problem with our kids, but at a much smaller level. There are plenty of names that work in both Swedish and German. But they're often pronounced differently, or just completely oldfashioned in one of the countries. We also went for names that works in english as well.

I have read your response multiple times and I am a bit confused. In a previous response you said...

        Quote:

Yes, I know what the Catholics say about Peter.

and that you disagreed with it. Now you're asking me what I think about Peter. I hope I am not misinterpreting your words, but I trusted that statement you made. So I am unsure as to why you're asking me now. But since you wanted to know why I believe that Peter held a primacy among the 12. Take a look at the following articles. As I have mentioned before it's quite a bit of a read so I hope you can enjoy it with a cup of tea/coffee/beverage. :) Peters Primacy[^] Origins of Peter as Pope[^] Peter and the Papacy[^] Peter's successors[^] I hope this does not come off the wrong way, but since you know much about the Catholic faith and I know practically little to nothing of yours, but what you said. Can you send me some links to some historical documents or articles that explains the church ending after the last apostle? Or something that supports your belief? Finally, I am going to be honest I have absolutely no idea what you meant about the Bible ending. Can you clarify what you mean by that?

Pronunciation is what is important, Adam is spelled آدم in Arabic, put pronounced the same :). Daniel might be problematic, given the missus's family is effectively Palestinian, I don't know though so I'll run it by she-who-must-be-obeyed as we need to find more options.

Why are there no more scriptures from prophets? Since the days of Adam, God has called prophets, they have written their revelations into scripture, but shortly after Peter died there are no more scriptures. Why?

                Hannah's nice and biblical.

Hannah's was the list for a girl and a nice name, but Arwa's aunt is called that & so Arwa reckoned it'll open a whole bunch of other problems. If (hopefully when) we have another barin and if its a girl we've pretty much settled on Sara. Currently the only boy's name we have is Ramsey (which for personal reasons I hate) and Daniel (see post below), and as it turns out Ephraim (good if I were a 17th century puritan). Looking through this[^] Basil and Russell seem to be options, though not very enticing ones... Also Idris is possible, the poor thing would be hemi-demi-semi-hemi Welsh, but I don't like to talk about it, it's distressing having sheep in the family....

:) I'm asking why YOU believe the Bible stopped. Why are there no more prophets? In your words. What's your belief?

Always best to let the government have her say. I believe Sarah for a girl would work in both languages besides being pretty. A long shot for boys would be Zane. I'm pretty sure there is a name Zain in Arabic.

My understanding is that he was caught relieving himself in some nearby woodland and I also understand that the next pope is going to be a bear...
