I have just seen the stupidest question probably in the history of Codeproject. I'll summarize it as this isn't a "bash the poster" post, just a nortmal, everyday rant:

"i dont know any programming language" OK, bad start...
"I GOT A DOTNET DEVELOPER (c#) JOB" Oh-oh - this isn't going to end well....
"CAN I LEARN IT EASYLY" :WTF:

What I want to say to them is: "Of course you can't you moronic idiot! What the elephant possessed you to lie that much and get a job you know absolutely bat-poo about? F***-Wit!" But of course I can't. And didn't. And now I have a tight ball of anger burning away in me waiting to get out... So should I make a coffee to calm me down, or stroke the cat?

If you get an email telling you that you can catch Swine Flu from tinned pork then just delete it. It's Spam.

They can get a job without knowing anything? Heck I have trouble getting a job when I am fluent in the requirements. (I do not interview well) :sigh: P.S. Cat if it will let you.

Make like the cat to calm you down and then stroke some coffee. The level number and type of questions in QA does seem to come and go in patches. Lately there have been very few serious C++ questions I could answer with less than a half day of research. Previously there were loads but the dribble of idiot questions is rather constant. I answered one guy seeking a test case for his cod with a reciepe for fish and chips, he seemed quite happy. :wtf:

To be fair I didn't know any of the programming languages I have used in jobs when I was hired for them. And we have hired plenty who didn't either. The idea being that if you hire someone with the ability to program or to learn then you can mold them as you want them rather than picking someone up with bad habits that you don't want. Oh yes, and they are loads cheaper. Yep, that's the main reason. After leaving uni I got a job at Butlins, door security mostly, there was a lad on my induction course thing who had been sent down by a job centre to be a life guard although he couldn't swim at all. That was going to be a little harder to learn on the job.

By the sounds of the situation the original poster of the question was hired by the company under the assumption he an understanding of the language he was interviewing for. I understand the reason you presented about moulding the person to the style in the company, that was how i gained my first programming position, but I don't think this is the case in this situation.

Perhaps he was hired because he's the son of Mr. McLotsO'Pound, in which case his not-doing-so-well in the beginning (as long as it takes), will probably be handled with a lot of understanding from the supervising TL.

There's your loophole, the guy knows no programming and hence does not qualify as a developer. You can go ahead and insult him. You're welcome ;P

This guy's not a developer, so this suggestion doesn't apply. :)

Given from what I have seen as far as coders go (Or any field for that matter...), it does not surprise me even a little. He should be promoted to a manager position immediately.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

:wtf:

Leave the cat alone. Otherwise we have a good chance to have another rant in the Lounge saying "Sayonara, chumps" and where the OP is whining about too less understanding for human beeings and cruelty against animals :~.... Stroking the questions' OP would the best solution, IMO at least...?

By the way don't underestimate the inspirational power of Bat Poo. This guy[^] wrote an entire novel about bat poo. 900 pages of psychedelic guano[^] for which he won some serious awards. I'd recommend it if it had been any good but unfortunately it was complete ...
