Coffee and Programming?
-
Is there anybody who just craves or is "addicted to coffee" as a software developer, computer/system programmer or just plain "programmer." For instance, you may pause a project briefly just to brew and sip a cup of Joe. Like you cannot live or cannot survive a day without thinking about having a craving of this drug?
Simple Thanks and Regards, Brandon T. H. Programming in C and C++ now, now developing applications, services and drivers (and maybe some kernel modules...psst kernel-mode drivers...psst). Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. - Thomas Edison
I appear to be allergic to coffee (i.e. I get violently ill when I drink it), so I stay far away from the stuff. When I need to wake up, I eat an apple or two (or three or four or five). And no jokes about Apple Computer Products, comprehende? Apple Computer products are overpriced, over hyped, and over exaggerated. And they turn people into brain-dead zombies that they (Apple Computer, Inc) will eventually release upon the world.

Well - I can life without coffee. But the less coffee I drink the more ciggies I smoke. And more important than coffee and ciggies is music - I almost die if I forget my headphones at home. Once they broke in the morning after about one hour working. A painful experience.

If You mean Joe, then yes. I make a pot when I wake up (5 AM). Then on my way to work I stop and have a 24 oz. cup. Then by 9 AM I have another. Not an addict though!

My name is Albert and I have a coffee drinking problem... :java::~
Hi, Albert. No need to be :baaaa!:ish, you can open up to us. Let's start from the beginning. Who got you hooked, and how long have you been using?

It's time to stage an intervention.

I had a pair of headphones break on me yesterday. As I was putting them on, they rudely snapped in half and hit me in the head. That was a painful experience. Luckily, those were my "listen to something on my work computer" pair, not my "listen to music" pair.

Which way, more or less caffeine?

Yes, we know. OK, Mr Frazzle, please follow me over here and join the group. People, scoot over and let Mr Frazzle in. There you go. Now, Mr Frazzle, please introduce yourself.
What me worry?
I'm frazzle (David) and I'm a coffee addict.

Inject? Isn't that dangerous, does your body have to chemically break it down, or it will kill you by poisoning.

Wouldn't coffee or generally drugs be a kernel driver, since it affects your system. Drugs to humans like Drivers to machines.

Maybe, but not me. Caffeine makes me sleepy.

That means that you have ADD or ADHD. The mechanics of how stimulants work are not fully understood, but it is well known that stimulants have the opposite effect in those with severe attention deficit disorders. I unfortunately am quite familiar with what it is like to being around someone with said affliction. :-( The worst case I know is my (ex) father in law, who used to make a whole pot and drink it before bed. I can't drink any caffeine after 14:00 or I can't get to sleep at night.

If it's daylight, I drink coffee; when it's not, I'm drinking scotch. I see no need for anything else.

Wait a second. What happened with your bet? Did I miss the post where you broke down and admitted you lost the bet to your friend? Tsk, tsk, tsk :) Soren Madsen
