When in fact the River is a well known Creek, the steersman doesn't know which bit to hold or which way to turn it, and the paddlers aren't given any paddles because they are too expensive...

On our boat, the paddles have a floating license. We have to share 2 paddles between 10 rowers. And 1 rower always forgets to log out when he goes home early so we essentially have 1 paddle.

It was broke, so I fixed it.

Sounds like I want to be on your ship. Could be quite peaceful with little rowing to be done.

You conveniently ignore The Ingeniare. Even by your argument they were not called Engineers back in the 13th Century. You claim it to be from the French. The initial premise of your case is that there would not be an Engineer on a boat without an engine, and my premise is that Engineering is not sourced from the word Engine. How are we to resolve this? I can provide proof that Engines existed back in ancient Greece, (Even using your favoured 'Proof' one can see this[^]) I suggest that Hero engineered a lot of things. He was an Engineer[^] The etymology is very old, and very Latin. Unless you can provide proof that the etymology is non-ancient-world then I stand by my argument that engineers existed at the time of the Triremes.

This was a discussion between me and my manager regarding the team effort. I imagined our company as a boat sailing in a river. I imagined the manager as the person who steers the boat, and the team members as the persons who paddle the water with the guidance of the manager. With all together they will reach safely. With any deficiency resulted from any of them they may get in the way.

I think it is more accurate to say that the Team members are the ones who plot the course, navigate the boat, steer it to the destination while overcoming any obstacles and extreme weather on the way. The manager is the one who thinks he is on a Train.

                                    That's only an illusion... :sigh:

All the charges for 'overhead' need to be deposited into someone's bank account. We all know the people doing the rowing aren't going to get it.
